Ketamine has limitations, such as a lack of antisuicidal context understanding, side effects, and short efficacy. However, research is being done to understand its functioning in suicidal context. Other therapies can help lower side effects, increase efficacy, and find safer administration. Ketamine could also be used as an initial response drug to buy time for suicidal patients and administer other treatments
