According to U.S. News & World Report, 193 people were killed or injured in school shootings in 2021, in the U.S., not including the shooters themselves with Texas being one of the states that have had the most shootings, with 126 incidents, that resulted in injuries and deaths. In the United States, handguns are the most frequent kind of weapon used in mass shootings, with 158 distinct handguns being used in 108 shootings between 1982 and January 2023.
With this project, we want to create a product that will protect against bullet impact. The main goal for this product is to make it simple to use and always accessible for any student.

My name is Andrea Nuñez, and I am currently a senior at Chapin High School in El Paso, Texas, where I'm enrolled in the Magnet Program. I will be graduating this June and afterwards, I will be attending UTEP in the fall of 2023, where I will be pursuing a career in Biomedical Engineering. I have always been interested in the arts of literature in Spanish, which is the reason why I chose to pursue this as my major. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.
