About Me

I grew up in Midland, Michigan and earned a bachelor's degree in Secondary English Education with a minor in Theater/Communications from Saginaw Valley State University. While in college, I was involved in the Student Michigan Education Association (SMEA) for four years and served as the SMEA President for one year. I also studied abroad in Italy for five weeks where I was immersed in Italian culture and cuisine!

During my college years I also met the man who would eventually become my husband: Eric. After graduation, we moved to Buchanan, Michigan where I was hired as an English teacher at River Valley Middle High School. I quickly became integrated into the school culture by coaching Girls on the Run for three years, becoming the head of both the technology team and English department after my second year, and even directing a school play (Law and Order: Fairy Tale Unit). Even with my busy schedule, I always make time to have some fun, whether that involves being duct taped to a wall for charity or cosplaying as Belle from Beauty in the Beast for Prom.

After my third year of teaching, I was accepted into Michigan State University's Master of Arts in Educational Technology program. Through my own inquiries and my master's work, I have discovered my passion for educational technology which I hope to pursue further as an Educational Technology Consultant.

Shortly after completing this degree, I accepted a position as a K-12 Technology Integration Coach through Sturgis Public Schools.

In my free time, I enjoy watching TV shows with my husband, cuddling with my two cats (Socks and Belle), and reading a good book.
