Alex started her teaching career as an Aerobics and Fitness Instructor as well as a personal trainer. In 2002 she attended her first ever Yoga class and in the relaxation at the end of the class, experienced a very tearful release. From then on she knew where her path was leading.
In 2005 she began teacher training with the Iyengar Yoga association and has been teaching since 2006. She has been travelling to Pune in India every two years since 2009 to study with the Iyengar family directly. The most recent visit being in 2018.
Continued professional development and passing various assessments have kept her teaching sharp and up to date. In November 2019 Alex passed “Senior Intermediate Level 2”.
"A very experienced yoga teacher, every position is demonstrated and hands on help given where needed. Moves are clearly explained always with an alternative should the student have a specific problem. Highly recommend Alex for her teaching." (Gabbie S.)
"Hi Alex, I always know I am in safe hands with you. My body is getting old and so some asanas are extra challenging for me, but you always offer alternatives and encouragement. Always a positive experience and always challenging!
Thank you so much 🙏" (Kathy C.)
"I have been a student of Alex’s for a number of years now. I have a degenerative condition which effects my nervous system. I explained this to Alex as soon as I was diagnosed. She went home, Googled my symptoms and has since differentiated poses in her classes to suit my ever- weakening legs. No other teacher has ever shown as much interest or engaged with my difficulties. I often think I will have to give up yoga but with Alex as a teacher, I know I will be able to carry on." (Amanda H.)
"I love Alex's classes and always come away feeling I've been challenged - and have moved a bit closer to doing the poses well. " (Tina J.)
"I am not a natural yogi but Alex has helped me really see the benefits, partly because she’s so friendly, patient and encouraging. Highly recommend her classes." (Christine M.)
"When I moved to Dorset from London, I was worried that I might not find a good yoga teacher in Bridport. To my surprise and delight, Alex is the best yoga teacher I've ever had! I always look forward to her classes and invariably feel better for them.
Alex is an exceptionally inspiring and motivational teacher. Her instructions are very clear - she communicates in a personal and thoughtful way, and really makes you understand and appreciate what you are doing. All her students are fans, and we have a good sense of community. Even with the current Zoom classes, Alex gives you individual encouragement as you go along - making you feel healthier and less isolated all at the same time!
I can't recommend her classes highly enough." (Michele M.)
