Play as a baby turtle, meet new friends, don't eat plastic, and search for a paradise that may or may not exist.
Turtle game is a game about a baby turtle's journey through a world ruined by plastic pollution. The game's aim is to raise awareness. In this project, I was responsible for all the environmental assets, shaders and visual effects
During gameplay, the player will encounter two companions, the hermit crab and the jellyfish.
The aim of this biome is to showcase how the ocean is full of beauty and life. The designer and I wanted to make this environment lush and inviting to later contrast it against the polluted biomes. The intention is to show a decaying ecosystem.
This biome shows how pollution negatively affects coral reefs and shallow areas. The sick, green water and pale vegetation are a stark contrast from the starting biome. The world beyond the wall is dying.
This biome aims to show how animals are affected by plastic. Turtles often eat plastic bags, mistaking them for jellyfish. The floating bags act like a minefield and attach to the player when collided with.
With the shipwreck we wanted to show how the deepest parts of the ocean aren't safe from pollution. This is a low point in the game. The environment is barren and hopeless.
This pipe is present throughout the entire game. It guides the player in the right direction and provides a point of orientation. Through a shader, I have made it pulsate towards the objective. The goal was to combine storytelling and gameplay. Where does this pipe lead to? What is it pumping into the ocean?
