This idea came to me on a trip to Sokcho. I was so impressed with the soy-sauce marinated crab I ate that I decided to immortalize it. At the same time I wanted to experiment with new styles after working on the counter-strike animation for so long. I had just learned about the compositor in Blender, so I decided to experiment with it and go for something simpler
In the modelling stage, I try to keep the geometry density the same throughout the whole scene. One reason why I do this, other than good practice, is because i'm displacing the geometry in world space. More density in the geometry would mean more unwanted detail of the displacement showing.
The shaders and texture work are very simple. I rely on base colors and a simple two tone shader. I try to keep things simple because I want more artistic control during the compositing stage
The compositing stage is also fairly simple, I use Sobel for edge detection and a Kuwahara filter. I wanted to imitate the effect of painting outside of the lines, giving the scene a sketchy, disorganized look
