Alessandro Scopelliti

Welcome to my website!

I am an Assistant Professor of Finance (tenure-track) at KU Leuven, in the Faculty of Economics and Business.  In the current academic year, I am also a Visiting Fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre of the European University Institute.

Previously, I worked as an Economist at the European Central Bank and as a Research Fellow at the University of Zurich. At the ECB, I contributed to the design of macroprudential policy and the analysis of financial stability issues, as well as to the design and the implementation of monetary policy. At the University of Zurich, I developed research in the context of an ERC Advanced Grant on "Bank Lending"

I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Warwick, as well as a MSc in Economics from Pompeu Fabra University and a MRes in Economic Analysis and Policy from Paris School of Economics.

In my experience, I have combined academic research, university teaching, policy advice and design. I have developed research in or in collaboration with central banks (ECB, Bank of England and Banca d’Italia), macroprudential bodies (ESRB) and international institutions (IMF).

My research interests are in financial intermediation, financial regulation and stability, macroprudential policy and monetary policy, sustainable finance, capital markets.
