Aerospace

My first big project was to construct and fly a wooden glider made from scratch. We spent weeks learning about aerodynamics, how to construct the different types of wings, and how to make it turn left or right mid-air. Finally, I constructed my rocket and it was able to fly 96ft straight when launched from the top of the football bleachers

My final project in Aerospace this year was to learn all about constructing rockets and the science behind them. I made sure to take extra time to learn how the engine would work and which dimensions for the body would be best. After constructing and testing my rocket launched and flew straight up for 1700 feet.

During my aerospace class, I was given the chance to visit the University of Mt. Olive and explore their  flight school. While there we learned about the different types of planes they fly. We also learned about potential careers in aeronautics, and how UMO can provide the education necessary to get a piloting license.
