Artistic Statement:
I dream of painting and later I paint my dreams...
Vincent Van Gogh
In my artworks, I reflect everything that surrounds me and moves me deeply. I seek inspiration in memories, experiences, stories, music, traditions, and in the customs of the town where I grew up, as well as in my personal emotions and affections.
My paintings are the result of more than thirty years of dedicated daily work. During this time, I have found a way to materialize these memories by shaping my own expression through naïf and primitivist painting.
Each artwork follows a personal approach so that it can faithfully express the idea I wish to convey, closely connected to the memories and traditions of everyday life in provincial Colombia.
Since relocating to New York, my work has entered a new stage of transformation. Living in this multicultural city has expanded my visual language and enriched my themes, allowing me to combine the vibrant spirit of Colombia with the energy and diversity of urban life in the United States. My recent works reflect this dialogue between origins and new experiences, between nostalgia and present reality.
My compositions are built with colorful strokes and imaginative forms that reflect my personal experience and artistic evolution. In them, I show a special interest in memory as a revealing element of human experience.
Through the creative process, my purpose is to interact with the audience in the simplest and most direct way, inviting them to complete or transform the work with their own interpretation and admiration. Ultimately, the viewer becomes an active participant, receiving an invitation to discover my world and my most intimate vision.
