Entrepreneurship

  • LYSEIS Ltd. Advanced Information Technology Systems (1998 –2004)

Founding member and managing director of LYSEIS Ltd Advanced Information Technology Systems. LYSEIS was a spin-off company dedicated primarily to build, market and support complex legality and scheduling information systems. The main product of Lyseis was fREeDOM (fast REgulation Definition and On-line Manipulation) system, a descendant of the DAYSY Rule Handling System, developed in the context of the DAYSY ESPRIT project at University of Patras.

Professional Consulting & Development

  • Project assignment on development and maintenance of the Lufthansa DAYSY Legality Checker from Kernel Software SARL, Fontainebleu, France for the real time rescheduling of crew assignments to flights at Lufthansa Airlines. The project lasted from February 2004 to May 2007.

  • Project assignment for the design of an e-commerce platform using object oriented methods by Instance Ltd, Patras, Greece. The platform is currently in use for the development of B2B applications. The project was performed in two phases from 01/08/2002 - 31/12/2002 & 01/06/2003 - 31/07/2003.

  • Project assignment by ΤΑΗΟΕ, Athens, Greece for the deployment of a high performance parallel system at the University of Patras ( 01/09/00 – 31/12/00 ) and the introduction of wireless networks at various clients (01/08/01 – 31/12/01) and (01/04/02 – 15/07/02).

Researcher

  • Research project “PLEIADA – 99ΕD614” (1999 – 2000)

Senior member of the research and development team, which objective was the development of a human-resource scheduling system exploiting scattered computing resources found all over the Internet.

  • Research ESPRIT/HPCN project “PAROS – EP20.115” (1996 – 1999)

Senior member of the research and development team, which designed and implemented parallel algorithms for the efficient solution of the crew pairing problem that appears in the solution process of the airline crew scheduling problem.

  • Research ESPRIT project “DAYSY - EP8402” (1995 – 1996)

Junior member of the research and development team, which designed and implemented a generic rule handling system to be used in resource scheduling applications. In DAYSY (Day-to-day Resource Management Systems) project the problem of day-to-day resource management in the airline domain was confronted in collaboration with Lufthansa German Airlines, Sema Group SA (France) and Cosytec SA (France).

  • H2020 project "FEVER"- GA-864537 (2020 – 2023)

Senior member of the research and development team, which design and implement parallel scheduling algorithms for the automated and fair participation of energy prosumers in a local energy market.

  • H2020 project "ENERMAN"- GA-958478 (2021 – 2023)

Senior member of the research and development team, which design and implement energy prices aware rescheduling algorithms for enabling sustainable industrial production in sectors where energy cost is the most significant cost component like steel and aluminum production, chemical industry, automotive manufacturing etc.

Senior member of the research and development team, which objective was the development of methodologies for the support of the change of a traditionally operated company to a spatially distributed model.

  • Research project “Havi” (2006 –2008)

Senior member of the research and development team, which objective was the development of a intrusion prevention and load balancing system for an IMS platform. My main focus was the creation of a distributed load balancing system for the IMS server cluster.

  • Research project “FP7 SME Scamstop” (2010 – 2013)

Principal invesigator of the research and development team, which objective is the development of a fraud detection and prevention system for an IMS platform. My main ithm focus is the creation of a distributed fraud detection algorithm using neural networks. The project is supported by grants of the 7th Framework for SMEs of the European Union.

  • Research project “FP7 ICT Alma” (2011-2014)

Work Package Leader of the WP3 and member of the steering committee with the objective to create novel methods for mapping and scheduling sequential applications expressed in SciLab to multi core architectures. The project was very successful and a spin off company was created to exploit the results of the project.
