PROJECT OBJECTIVES

The final aim of this project is to develop a SERS microfluidic (immuno)sensor device for the quantification of relevant Alzheimer’s disease biomarkers as an attempt for an early and non-invasive diagnosis of this neurodegenerative disorder.

Specifically, the concrete objectives of this project are:
► to optimise a synthesis protocol for spiky gold nanoparticles (GNUs) with high SERS efficiency (WP1);
► to devise a SERS microfluidic model based on molecular recognition for antigen detection and quantification, as „proof-of-concept” (WP2);
► to adapt the SERS microfluidic (immuno)sensor for relevant early-diagnosis AD biomarkers available by non-invasive sampling (WP3); and
► to demonstrate the capacity of the SERS microfluidic (immuno)sensor for detection and quantification of AD biomarkers in relevant media (WP4).
