Two Museums One Festival

The festival take place in two museums in the city of Alicante:

The MACA (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante) as the official festival venue, where the works will be screened on a regular basis.

The MUBAG (Museo de Bellas Artes Alicante) will present the same programme in its Art Window, in a non-stop format. This innovative proposal takes art to the street, bringing it directly to the public.

El festival se lleva a cabo en dos museos de la ciudad de Alicante:

El MACA (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante) como sede oficial del festival, donde las obras se proyectarán de manera regular.

El MUBAG (Museo de Bellas Artes Alicante) presentará la misma programación en su Ventana del Arte, en un formato non-stop. Esta propuesta innovadora lleva el arte a la calle, acercándolo directamente al público.

MACA

El Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante se ubica en el corazón de la ciudad frente a la monumental Iglesia de Santa María. En un edificio de radical arquitectura, con espacios bellísimos que ascienden en busca de la luz, se exponen las colecciones de arte contemporáneo propiedad del Ayuntamiento de Alicante.

El MACA integra en su nueva arquitectura la antigua Casa de La Asegurada, convertida desde 1977 en museo gracias a la generosidad del artista alicantino Eusebio Sempere, que donó a la ciudad de Alicante su colección de obras de arte. Ese trascendente acto fundacional es el origen de este nuevo MACA.

MUBAG

El MUBAG emplea como espacio expositivo el principal palacio del siglo XVIII de la ciudad de Alicante: El palacio Gravina. La concepción del museo parte de un exhaustivo trabajo de rehabilitación del edificio que fue propiedad del Conde de Lumiares.

Situado entre la muralla del Postiguet y la escalinata de Santa María, en el casco histórico de Alicante, esta casa de topología palaciega se construyó sobre las ruinas de edificaciones derruidas durante la guerra de Sucesión.

MACA

The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante (Alicante Museum of Contemporary Art) is located in the heart of the city, opposite the monumental Iglesia de Santa María (Church of Santa María). In a building of radical architecture, with gorgeous spaces that ascend in search of light, the contemporary art collections, property of the Ayuntamiento de Alicante, are displayed.

The Alicante Museum of Contemporary Art, known as the MACA, integrates in its new architecture the ancient Casa de La Asegurada (House of La Asegurada), turned into a museum since 1977 due to the generosity of the artist from Alicante Eusebio Sempere, who donated his collection of works of art to the city of Alicante.

This transcendent foundational act is the origin of this new MACA.

MUBAG

The MUBAG uses as its exhibition space the main 18th century palace in the city of Alicante: the Gravina Palace. The conception of the museum is based on an exhaustive work of rehabilitation of the building that was the property of the Count of Lumiares. Located between the Postiguet wall and the Santa María steps, in the historic centre of Alicante, this palatial house was built on the ruins of buildings demolished during the War of the Spanish Succession.
