General Summoning Tips
Summoning circles should be drawn clearly, not in sidewalk chalk. Some states and countries allow the sale of specially-made summoning chalk that draws clearly and doesn’t smudge easily, but if this is not true of your state, chalkboard chalk is your friend.
The more you simplify a circle, the higher your chances of summoning the wrong demon or having your summons intercepted. When in doubt, add more detail—but always check to make sure you’re not obscuring the symbols!
Always prepare two types of offerings: a sacrifice and your own side of the deal. The sacrifice is really a small deal which allows a demon the power to manifest on the physical plane, so plan the size to match the time you’ll need to lay out your deal. You’ll also need another offering, which will be used to fulfill your side of the deal. Remember, the amount of energy you put in should be approximately proportional to the amount of energy the demon puts out, otherwise you’re being ripped off.
Its a common rule of thumb among demonologists to always draw a binding circle for a demon a few levels more powerful than the one you’re aiming for, in case you call the wrong demon. However there aren’t really any demons we know of that are stronger than the Dreambender, and most binding circles don’t work on him to boot, so the rule must be modified. In this case, draw the best binding you can, in case you summon anything besides Alcor.
Write out your deal beforehand. Smooth out any unclear terms and check for loopholes. If you have a trusted friend or a partner, have them look over the deal as well. Don’t be afraid to add clauses where a term needs defining, and always assume a term needs defining.
One helpful tip is to look over the deal as if you were the demon. If this deal was presented to you, how could you exploit it?
Alcor's Specifics
His 'sacred' objects/animals/plants are sheep, lambs, pine trees, and stars (especially Alcor & Mizar, and the whole Big Dipper constellation).
Summoning him at night will probably take some of the burden of will off the summoner, because he is a dream demon associated with stars and constellations. The draw of being in his element may entice him to answer the summons.
Also: summon anywhere but a basement, with unscented candles; these are just his preferences.
Keep track of his cycles. Its best to actually do your own research and calculations rather than relying on rumors of his mood, but not everyone can. Scholars literally never stop writing papers about the Alcorian Cycle though, so those are always helpful to check out.
Most demons will come for fresh blood, but why would you do that when Alcor in his nicer phases also comes for candy? If you do decide to use blood, remember that there are many legal and easy ways to get it! Please don't kidnap people!
Alcor is known for going easy on amateurs, children, and non-cultists, but don’t count on it.
Alcor's summoning circle, in it's most common usage, looks like this, although he's also been reported to respond to Bill Cipher's old circle, which is otherwise out of use.
