WELCOME to the JOY OF CREATION (online studio)! My name is Sandra. I am an Upholsterer and Textile Artist. I was born in Peru in 1972 and immigrated to the United States with my family in 1978. I was naturalized as a US Citizen in the 1990s and graduated from Penn State University with a BA in Integrative Arts (Architecture Design) and with minors in Architectural History and Sociology in 1995.

As a Textile Artist I enjoy teaching others within the art process of discovering, exploring, and enjoying all things ALCHEMY. Alchemy means transformation. As you have seen through our social feed and website I have had the honor to recreate, restore and reupholster beautiful one-of-a-kind family treasures for over 10 years. This blessing of bringing people JOY through the process of CREATION is one that I NOW am offering to others to join me in through my online studio. I have titled the online studio "JOY OF CREATION" because it serves as an extension of my love for taking the old, the remanants, the forgotten and the new to create items that become family treasures to share with others and include in my personal creative storytellilng process.

Fruitti™ is a 12wt Egyptian cotton thread with a bold and dramatic look that has been double-gassed to create a gorgeously soft and clean cotton thread. Free of waxes and coatings that can damage your sewing machine, this low lint thread is ideal for showing off your stitching and designs, and adding a little more colour to your projects.

Fruitti™ is available in 41 fun and playful variegated colours and used by Nichole Vogelsinger - author, teacher and mixed media hand embroidery.

This gorgeous 8wt, 2-ply 100% long staple Egyptian cotton thread is double-gassed and mercerized, resulting in a wonderfully smooth and lustrous surface that allows the thread to glide beautifully through all types of fabrics and fibres. The thread’s tight twist creates beautifully firm stitches while its surface sheen produces a luxurious finish to embellishment stitchery.
