Ms. Wiens is a passionate advocate for music education who believes every child deserves equitable access to high-quality musical experiences. She began her teaching career in 2015 in Katy ISD at Rhoads Elementary School, where she served as a general music specialist for over 1,000 students in grades K–5. During her tenure, she led the school’s percussion and choir ensembles, earning community recognition and awards at local music festivals while fostering a strong culture of creativity and excellence.
In 2020, Ms. Wiens joined Alief ISD, where she has taught band education for students in grades 5–8 at Budewig Intermediate School, Owens Intermediate School, and currently serves as the Head Director of Bands at Albright Middle Performing and Visual Arts Academy. She is currently in her sixth year with Alief ISD and her eleventh year in music education. Throughout her time in Alief, Ms. Wiens has been recognized for her leadership and instructional impact, including being a two-time recipient of the Culture of Excellence Fine Arts Leadership Award and earning the designation of TIA “Recognized” Teacher.
Ms. Wiens has secured multiple grants to enhance student learning, including several DonorsChoose projects, a Katy ISD Education Foundation grant titled Playing with STEM: There’s Science in Music, a TMEA Elementary Music Grant, and three Peter R. Marsh Grants for Service to Our Community. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education from Abilene Christian University, where she studied French horn under Dr. Jason Missal, and remains an active musician, performing with the Sugar Land Winds.

Mr. Johnston started teaching in 2025 and this is his first year in music education. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University. While at SFASU he studied Clarinet and Conducting under Drs. Christoper Ayer and Chris Kaatz. He has received a Degree in Music Education with a Minor in Jazz Studies. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking and composing original music and has had 4 original Jazz charts debuted by the SFASU Jazz Bands.
