Canning Town Library transformed into a vibrant hub of art, culture, and international collaboration. The exhibition, organised by Albion Art Club, featured the works of talented Lithuanian and Ukrainian artists, bringing together a diverse audience of art lovers, community members, and distinguished guests.
Art has always been a universal language, capable of transcending borders and connecting people through shared emotions and experiences. This exhibition was a testament to the deep artistic traditions of Lithuania and Ukraine, reflecting the rich heritage, resilience, and creativity of these nations. The showcased works ranged from contemporary abstract paintings to evocative pieces capturing the essence of history, identity, and human connection.
We were honoured to welcome esteemed guests, including Sir Stephen Timms, a Member of Parliament, Unmesh Desai, a Member of the London Assembly, and Andrey Marchenko, Director of the Ukrainian Welcome Centre. Their presence underscored the importance of cultural diplomacy and the role of art in fostering mutual understanding and support between communities.
During the meeting, discussions revolved around the power of artistic expression in times of change, the role of cultural initiatives in strengthening ties between diaspora communities, and the significance of public spaces like libraries in hosting such meaningful events. Their support and words of encouragement highlighted the importance of continuing these initiatives to preserve and promote Baltic and Ukrainian cultural heritage in the UK.
The Lithuanian and Ukrainian artists who participated in the exhibition shared their perspectives on the creative process, inspiration, and the challenges of being an artist in today’s world. Through their work, they conveyed messages of hope, identity, and transformation, leaving a lasting impression on visitors.
One of the most striking aspects of the exhibition was the diversity of artistic styles and themes. Some artworks told personal stories of migration and adaptation, while others explored broader historical and social themes. The exhibition served as a powerful reminder that art is not only about aesthetics but also about storytelling and emotional connection.
This event was more than just an exhibition—it was a celebration of cultural heritage and artistic collaboration. It reinforced the idea that art plays a crucial role in bringing communities together, sparking conversations, and inspiring future generations.
We are grateful to Sir Stephen Timms, Unmesh Desai, Andrey Marchenko, and all our guests who attended and supported this initiative. Special thanks to Canning Town Library for hosting this wonderful event and providing a welcoming space for artists and visitors alike.
As we reflect on this memorable evening, we look forward to more opportunities to showcase talent, promote cultural dialogue, and celebrate the artistic spirit that unites us all. Albion Art Club remains committed to creating spaces where artists can share their vision and where diverse cultures can meet through creativity.

Women's talents over 50 years can appear and strengthen. Although every woman is unique and her experience may vary. As I said in the advertisement before the event, I would get new stories, so it was. I admire the talents of women. I started writing myself after 50. After 50, women often have deep and diverse life experiences that can help them discover new talents. By being exposed to different people groups and cultures, they can discover new passions and skills related to such experiences.
There were also younger, talented women in the exhibition whose stories fascinated me. I will do interviews with these women, and I am already thinking of writing a book about female talent.
Audronė Lamb's journey as an artist is deeply rooted in her ability to translate emotions onto paper. Her drawings serve as a direct conduit to her inner world, allowing viewers to witness the spectrum of human emotions in their raw, unfiltered form. Her pieces evoke empathy and connection as they invite you to delve into her joys, sorrows, and the intricate dance of emotions that shape her life.
"I draw my feelings. I draw when I'm sad, when I'm happy. I express my feelings through drawings," Audronė passionately shares. Her art captures moments of vulnerability, strength, introspection, and elation. Each stroke of her pencil is a brushstroke of emotion, creating a symphony of feelings that resonate with anyone who has experienced the complex landscape of human sentiment.
We invite you to experience Audronė Lamb's extraordinary collection at the Midlands Art Centre in Birmingham on September 2, 2023. Witness her expressive drawings and engage with the emotions they convey. Audronė's art is a testament to the power of creativity in healing, connection, and self-discovery.

Rasa Usackiene, I am a Coach-Psychologist, Art-Game-Therapist and self-taught artist in the field of oil painting. Drawing has been my passion since childhood, but my parents didn’t encourage me to take an interest in the arts because they wanted me to become a professional in more traditional fields. So, I stopped drawing for many years and buried my dream of becoming an artist. It wasn’t until November 2019 that a very unexpected way, my painting appeared in my life. And my passion for painting came back in a completely different light. I draw my inspiration from the online and urban space, its bustle and the light and natural beauty. Also, I discover ideas of a very abstract nature in my dreams or meditations.
Neringa Ablingytė People also ask how I am creating (music, songs, poems, paintings, theatre performances, or simply spontaneously performing with the kids). I can't answer. I am not doing it; I am just jumping into this amazing flow of energy and power and copying it from there. And I believe that we just need to break our blocks, and then everyone can do it.
Amazing art of Love Grosmane. Birmingham, UK
