Welcome!

Since a very young age, I have been fascinated by nature. I am committed to do all I can to conserve biodiversity for future generations. In other words, I want to leave the world a bit better than I found it. Below are some of the things I have chosen to focus on.

Science is one of the most robust processes (not the only one) to create and advance knowledge. Unfortunately, as anything that is worthwhile, it takes time. After 10 years in Academia, I realized that science advances much slower than the rate at which we are changing the planet. And even slower is the translation of science into meaningful action.

While I was doing my PhD, I really enjoyed being out in the field, figuring out the ecosystem processes that unfold before my eyes, whether or not they were the focus of my research. It was a ton of work, but also a ton of fun. This is where I belong, on the land, and after a number of years of computer work, I am going back to it. I am dedicating myself to working with nature to address the most destructive human activity on the planet: agriculture. We urgently need, science tells us, to change the way we produce (and consume) food, so we can encourage biodiversity to thrive, capture carbon in the soil, build fertility, and feed our communities with food that will give them energy to pursue a fulfilled life. This is, in a nutshell, what regenerative agriculture, my new career, is all about.

I called my farm Nature’s Apprentice Farm because even though I will not be publishing in scientific journals, I will continue to learn from the wisest mentor, and to share what I learn. It will definitely be a ton of work, but also a ton of fun. Please join me in this exciting journey at https://www.facebook.com/naturesapprenticefarm
