We finished the tutorial #60 and #61, adding a `go' button to the ultrasonic distance sensor. This concludes the use of the distance sensor. We will meet next Saturday (6/1), 2-5pm, at CK 204.

We finished tutorial #55, 56, 57 today. Our next task is to make a portable distance detector.
Next week we will not meet because the room is not available. After that, we have to cancel a few meetings due to ESYO activities and my personal travel plans. Our next meeting will be on June 1st. I will remind you.
3/30/2024
We finished the projects #49 and 50, and learned about using the DHT-11 temperature and humidity sensor, together with the LCD display. Note that we will NO meeting on 4/6 next week since I will be out of town. Then we will have 3 consecutive meetings (4/13, 4/20, 4/27). Then we will skip 3 more meetings (5/4 ESYO performance, and 5/11, 5/18 due to my travel plan). Also, please make sure your kids bring the cable charger, in case the laptops run out of battery.

We finished the projects 48 and 49 about the LCD display. We will continue on 3/30, 2-5pm, at CK 204, and learn about tutorial #50 and 51. There will be no meeting on 4/6 since I will be in Canada for a research talk.
3/2/24
Our next meeting will be on 3/9, 2-5pm, in CK 204. We will continue with tutorial #44, about 74HC595. The circuits for this lesson is quite complicated and time consuming. Some kids have already finished building the circuits. If your kids have not, so please make sure they build up the circuits at home and bring to the meeting (at least they can start the project at home). You can use any plastic box or shoe box to bring the circuits to the meeting.

We will not have meetings on 2/24, and 3/2 (MathCounts State Round).
2/10/24
We learned the tutorial #42 and #43, about 74HC595 serial. Please let the kids keep the circuits as we will use it again next time. The kids also worked on 2011 Mathcounts Chapter Team round, which can be found here: problems and Solution. Our next meeting is on 2/24, 2-5pm, in CK 204.

The students finished tutorials #35 and #36. They learned about the use of stepper motors (with motor driver) and tilt switches. The students also worked on the 2007 Mathcounts Chapter Team Round.
