Assistive Technology
2023 Portfolio
2023 Portfolio
Class Overview and Portfolio Introduction
In 421 HS-OCCT, students worked to design, adapt, and fabricate assistive technology. This portfolio showcases all projects made, documenting the building process and intended use. The projects descriptions are divided into the materials used to build them: cardboard carpentry and 3D printing. In my experience in the class, I made two projects that could be beneficial to the general population and three projects for students at the Watson Institute. The Watson Institute is a series of special education schools. Their mission is to help children reach their fullest potential in all aspects of life. At this institute, students are taught activities of daily living through individualized education plans. Resources like speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, behavior therapy, and transitional services are all part of the education programs offered at Watson. Through this Assistive Technology class we were able to visit the school and design devices for students in need. Having the opportunity to design and deliver a working device that I made to children in need was an experience I will never forget.
In this portfolio, there is documentation of all projects completed.
