On the other hand, you can modify the graphical parameters setting the family argument of the par function. Note that this approach will modify the font of all texts, even the numbers.

The showtext package was created to be a simpler solution (avoiding the use of external softwares) with an easier way to add custom fonts in R graphs. This package works with several types of fonts like TrueType (.ttf), OpenType (.otf), Type 1, web fonts and more, while the previous only works for .ttf.

In the name argument you will need to specify the name of the font displayed on the Google Fonts site. The string specified on the family argument will be the one you will need to set when specifying the font.

If you want to add custom fonts in R you may have downloaded from any source, you will need to use the font_add function instead. In order to load a custom font for the first time you will need to follow this steps:

First, If you want to set a font for all the graphical devices you are going to create you just need to call the showtext_auto function and specify the font on the corresponding argument of the function you are using. As an example, after loading the desired fonts you can specify the font family you loaded from Google Fonts as follows:

An alternative for these functions is to set the font family with the par function, but you will need to register the font with the windowsFonts and windowsFont functions, where you will need to pass the one corresponding string of the output of the fonts function of the extrafonts package. Go to the previous section if the font you want to add does not appear on the output list of that function.

This will modify all the texts at the same time. Nonetheless, this approach will only work for Windows Fonts, so we will use the Muthiara font on this example, but you can also download a Google Font and install it in your computer.

Second, if you want to use the custom fonts in some devices you will need to wrap your graph codes between showtext_auto() and showtext_auto(FALSE), which will use showtext automatically for future devices and turn it off, respectively. This is the recommended workflow. In the following block of code you can see an example with the calendR package.

1. As I've already mentioned in an earlier post, the customization for font-size is too limited at the moment, making even the maximum font-size a bit too small to read, IMHO this should be relatively easy fix with some tweaks in CSS settings.

The rebranding process was grounded in our ongoing mission to shift perceptions about waste. In response, Spin developed a dynamic, living and responsive visual language for us, delivering a range of assets including an identity concept, a bespoke typeface, animations, printed matter and social media layouts.

I agree that the objective was to show that typefaces can be all in a design project... but not any typeface on any design.

To take an example, the Frutiger letters with the tree... the interesting thing would be to make the student pick a typeface that has interesting "v", "i" and "e" letters to represent "vie".

Frutiger is not special when it comes to those respective letters...

One more thing, typefaces, wherever they are used or in any way imaginable, have to be spaced properly to convey a feeling and a rythm to the entire piece.

If not, use spoons and forks... it won't matter.

All the gifs are 4 frame loops, 1080*270. I've tried to match fonts & colours to the tables as well as i could (more successfully on some than on others), overall they work pretty well (actually better than i expected)

@scutters which font is that and how did you create the text ? Was it using gimp if so can you tell me the settings or did you place the same text 3 times over each other each time with a different size ?

@joyrider3774 It's alba matter (italic). I use paint.net (i prefer the interface to gimps). Created by adding shadows to the text using the drop shadow plugin twice to add to the two 'shadows' (yellow and red), then selected the yellow shadow and added a gradient to white.

All the fonts are free for non commercial, but for the manufacturer fonts the ones i used for the loading text were 'near enough' - and probably won't stand up side by side if you want to rewrite the logo with them

From comic sans to wingdings, fonts are a major concern for a very niche group of people. Typography, however, can teach us a lot about how people react to different publication mediums. The key, of course, is striking a balance between readability, intent, and function.

Online publishing platforms like Facebook have zero font options. Other platforms, like WordPress, Tumblr, and your everyday website, however, have nearly countless types of type to choose from. But what does it matter, the font and pairings we choose? Does it make a difference at all?

Size matters, even if you claim to know how to use it. One of the most terrible, torturous things to do to your Web readers is to force them to zoom into your webpage. Properly designed, mobile-ready sites avoid this problem, but regular desktop viewers either need 20/20 vision or thick glasses to read 10-point type on a screen.

Different typefaces work better in print or when digitized. Fonts like Verdana, Georgia, and even Calibri were designed for screen reading and are commonly used, though these same fonts may be dreadful on paper.

Still undecided on which fonts to use? Write out your blog or article and read it. What looks the nicest in conjunction with the other elements on your page? Is your headline font paired nicely with the body text? Ask yourself these questions and then make a final decision.

Bauhaus-inspired typography follows a less-is-more approach in its design and places a higher emphasis on functionality than form. What we notice when looking at Bauhaus fonts is their clean lines, the basic shapes of the letters, and the lack of decorative elements. Since Bauhaus focuses on the basic shape of each letter, Bauhaus fonts always come in a sans-serif style.

Causten is a geometric sans serif font that maintains a sharp shape and a clean form. It comes in a set of nine weights, and each weight has a matching oblique set. You get a total of 18 different styles.

Causten Round has a slightly softer look due to the rounded corners of each letter. Like the related font above, Causten Round comes in 18 styles and includes uppercase and lowercase letters, punctuation and symbols, international characters, and stylistic characters and ligatures.

This font includes capital and lowercase letters, numbers, and punctuation. It comes in OTF, TTF, and WOFF formats. It also comes in weights ranging from light to bold italic and has multilingual support.

Oliviar is a modern sans serif font with a family of seven different fonts ranging from thin to black. Each font comes with language support, numbers, symbols, and both uppercase and lowercase letters.

Use this font for various projects, including projects that require Cricut, Silhouette, or other cutting machines. From apparel design to printed materials and digital graphics, the options are endless.

Dessau takes a slightly futuristic approach to its design with its rounded letters and unique form. It comes in light, medium, demibold, bold, and heavy weights and is perfect for various design projects. Use this font on commercial projects, apps and software, websites, and more.

Stadonia is a strong display font influenced by the functionality of classic Bauhaus fonts and the contemporary look of modern sans serif fonts. It comes in four versions, including Basic, Alternates, Inktrap, and Shadow. Use a combination of them to create a unique and cohesive look on your project.

I've added Linux Biolinum fonts ( -biolinum.font, LinBiolinum_R.ttf, LinBiolinum_RB.ttf) to my React Native project. Android version is OK. But on iOS I always see error "Unrecognized font family LinBiolinum_R".

For people who have tried everything and are still facing this issue, this is a problem with the font's file naming,You need to rename all of the fonts file name to its postscript name.On mac I can open the font using fontbook and find this out.

You probably need to link your fonts. In the root of the project, create a file: react-native.config.jsConsidering that your fonts are placed at PROJECT_NAME/assets/fonts add this to the new config file:

I had the same issue and fixed it by just opening the project in Xcode and under Resources folder in Project Navigator, there were duplicate fonts and just removing them from Resources folder and Info.plist both, the issue got resolved. Just run the app in Xcode after deletion then you may verify in your other tools as well without reinstalling npm. Just run 'react-native run-ios', cheers :) 17dc91bb1f
