The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, war-time veterans’ organization, devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is a not-for-profit community-service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million members in nearly 15,000 American Legion posts worldwide.
Our Auxiliary Unit is affiliated with our local American Legion Post 41, in Berryville, VA. Our post is named after Lloyd Williams, a Marine officer from Berryville who fought and died during World War I. You can read about this man's life here, in a submission by Post 41 member Robert Ferrebee.
All eligible veterans are welcome. Post 41 meets on the first Wednesday of each month (except September and December) in the Legion Meeting Room in the basement of the Dollar General Store, 20 South Church Street, Berryville, VA. Annual dues are $28. Please visit our Post's Facebook page for more information about their meetings and other events.
