AKvote.org was designed to help you securely request and submit a ballot for the 2018 Alaska General Election, all from your computer or phone. AKvote.org is not affiliated with the Alaska Division of Elections, and we do not fill in or count ballots. Instead, our tools help you communicate with the Division, without the need for printing, mailing, or faxing paper ballots and forms.
AKvote.org was developed by a team of Alaskan college students and recent grads. We all grew up in Juneau and graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 2013 and 2014.
No. AKvote.org is an independent service, developed without any financial or technical support from the Division of Elections. Questions regarding AKvote.org can be directed to team@AKvote.org. Questions regarding absentee ballots and elections in Alaska can be directed to elections@alaska.gov.
We share your concern! Ballots were not processed or stored on our servers during the 2018 election.
Instead, we hosted secure tools to help you send your ballot to the Alaska Division of Elections, and they independently counted your ballot alongside those of Alaskans who voted by mail or other means.
To protect your privacy and the integrity of the election process, we use industry-standard encryption to email your absentee ballot application to the Division of Elections. When we help you sign your voter certificate, none of the information you submit to complete that certificate is ever stored on our servers: as soon as you you download the filled-in certificate, your information is deleted. We never touch your ballot; you can submit that using postal mail, other free services, or your own fax machine.
No, AKvote.org does not store your personal information, with the exception of your email address, which we use to help confirm your application is submitted successfully. Your application information only resides on our servers for the moment it takes to transmit them to the Division of Elections. We do not store the information you provide to fill out your voter certificate.
