I am working on Perspective module, 8.0.1(but I am going to be updating it to 8.0.2 today). I would like to play an alarm sound when there is an unacknowledged alarm. I have been researching this, but this scripting environment is all new to me and very greek. I am really hoping someone can give me a simple way of doing this start to finish.

One problem I am encountering is how this is going to work across platforms. I have looked into the system.util.playSoundClip but from everything I read so far I am not sure how that will work with different devices. I would like to have the alarm play whether someone is on a desktop pc, an android tablet, or an iPhone.

Is this doable? Seems it should be since the program is represented to be used for SCADA systems. I would assume most people with these systems would want audible alarms for the times that someone is not sitting directly in front of a screen.

Thanks. I am not sure that will work for me though. I just want it to activate when there is any alarm that is not acknowledged. Seems that would be easier than binding it to each and every tag that has an alarm?

On another note, a guy I work with brought up the idea that if we use an external sound source then we would not get an audible alarm. So I started up the Microsoft IIS web server and put the sound file on it. Now, we can loose outside internet at our facility but still have an audible alarm.

When my Ring Alarm gets tripped, I get a notification on my mobile device. The problem is, it just sounds like a text message when it hits my phone. If I'm away from home, I might completely miss it.

Hi @Knoenhim! If motion is detected but you are not alerted, this is either due to notification permissions on your mobile devices or alert settings in your Ring app. The best first step here is to remove the Ring app from your mobile device, and reinstall it. Once done, please log in to the Ring app, ensure your mobile device is not on silent mode, and test a motion event.

Left home. Armed the system which said one door was opened. It was not but I have trouble with that contact sensor. Anyway the alarm went off for several minutes until I happened to look at my phone and saw the notification about the alarm. I then used the app to turn it off.

It would be nice if Ring were to separate the Alarm notifications into at least two categories, one for general alerts, and one for actual active alarm events (which ideally uses the Ringtone volume stream so it can be configured to play long tones and repeat them and the vibration).

I have the same problem with iPhone. Ring, please fix this. I too am considering another alarm system because of this, and I have 4 ring systems on different properties that I own. I pay for the monthly service so I have cloud storage of video, but I use self monitoring because we use these in houses that we rehab, and the workers set them off all the time. I used to have professional monitoring, but I missed a call from them once, so they sent the police, who gave me a $100 fine for a false alarm. I pay as much as monitored service users do, but I monitor it myself and when the alarm goes off I sometimes miss it. This is not acceptable. Ring, please fix the ability for self monitored users to choose a special alert notification when the alarm is going off!!

There really needs to be a way to change the Ring Alarm notification sound (iOS App) that the alarm has been tripped and is going off. Exactly the same way you can change it for camera and sensor notifications. I would love to have that sound be as annoying as a siren so I take notice ASAP instead of the current non-changeable sound.

I have just installed the ring alarm this week and had a alarm triggered and surprised there is no option on IPhone to custom assign a sound to a alarm trigger incident like the doorbell . Surely thus us a oversight? No one is looking their phones 24x7

If you're experiencing unusual behaviour on Samsung mobiles, tablets or wearables, you can send us an error report or ask us a question in the Samsung Members app.

6. Under the "RINGTONES" heading on the next screen, tap the alarm sound you want. A sample will play for each tone. If you don't want any alarm sounds, just tap None.

6. Under the "Songs" heading of the "Sound" screen, tap Tone Store to go to the iTunes section of the iTunes Store app so you can buy ringtones from a wide range of musical options. You can also choose alert tones of a favorite character's voice.

7. If you've previously bought tones that aren't downloaded onto your current phone, tap Download All Purchased Tones. Apple will check your account and download your tones.

Quick tip: To set your iPhone's alarm to vibrate only, just choose None for the alarm sound in the Sound screen, and make sure you've a standard or custom vibration pattern in the Vibration screen.

Oddly enough, Android doesn't provide (as of the time of writing) a way to change the default alarm tone: if you navigate to Settings > Sound & notification, you can pick "Alarm volume", "Phone ringtone" and even "Default notification ringtone", but there's nothing about an "Default alarm ringtone".

The solution that worked for me came from this post. It requires using the ES File Explorer (install it if you don't have it yet, you can remove it afterwards). The steps below are to pick one of the existing alarm sounds as the default one, but can be used for any sound in your SD card. Here's what you do:

You can do this with zedge. When you download a notification sound and choose the "set" option, it will give you a choice of setting it as the main ringtone, the default alarm, and two other options I can't remember right now.

Once you move your song or ringtone into the file you have created and you click on it and file explorer if you push the three dots on the top right it'll say set ringtone push that and it'll give you the three options shown in the picture!

Open a file manager, choose the sound file you want, and move the file to the 'alarms' folder.Once there it will show up in both sections of the clock app under," Alarm sound:" "Alarm Tone," and "Music," but you must select it! It will not self-add. Tap either one and scroll to it; tap on its name, (not on the right which is play only), tap Save.

To have a more or less permanent Clock/Alarm of this sound: tap +(add), select the sound, and set the time/date for anything, >Save. Now simply use that alarm by resetting the time/date, instead of crafting a new one, and the alarm sound will follow at that setting. From BeOhBe

I left the alarm vibrating and opened the phone's volume controls; the alarm volume was on (half way on the bar) and ringtone was off. I slid the ringtone volume up and there it was, my selected alarm song was playing.

I am trying to set an alarm overnight based on if it is a workday or not. I have this working but am struggling to set a ringtone for the alarm, anything I do just ends up with the default tone. Does anyone know how I can use android.intent.extra.alarm.RINGTONE to set the ringtone to a specific file?

This morning when my alarm went off it was a different 'tone' to what I have set. I have checked & it says it's still what I selected but it is playing something totally different. I don't have sleep mode on, I have the latest iOS update. How can I put my alarm back to something less annoying?!

Hi, I deleted my alarms & then set them again. My iOS updated this morning. It looks like for some reason my 'sound' was no longer downloaded into my iTunes & that's why it stopped playing ? I have re-downloaded it, set an alarm for 1min time & it has worked. Thank you for your help!

What other notifications are you getting from smartthings? If its just your alarm, why not set the sound to something more to your liking? And you could set the notification to priority so its louder/always on.

Now if you want all SmartThings notifications to play this file, select it as the application notification. I just wanted the SMS messages from SmartThings that are sent from alarm conditions to trigger the file. To do this I added a contact and included the phone number from the SMS messages sent by SmartThings as the mobile number. Then you can add a field to the contact to specify a custom message notification sound and select the music file you added to the Notifications folder. Give the contact a name and save it. SMS messages from SmartThings will appear with the contact name and trigger the custom notification. Make sure the file plays long enough to wake you up, though, since it will only play through once. This eliminates the need to devote memory to IF an/or Tasker. Your notifications volume will need to be set fairly loud, so other short notifications might hinder your sleep.

This is with Cochlear Nucleus 7 and Kanso2 processors with a Google Pixel 3 phone.

Using the phones clock app I can set alarms and timers and they do set off alarms in the processors.

I would think this would work on hearing aids too. If I remember correctly this was true with my Phonak aids with the Samsung S9 phone.

Getting out of bed is difficult, whether that's in the morning or evening. Sometimes, you really need to give yourself a stern talking to in order to stop yourself from hitting snooze and rolling over. That's where the Android clock app's alarm recording feature comes in handy. 006ab0faaa
