If you right click on the alarm status table and open component scripting, you can get the same result as a source filter binding using the filterAlarm extension function, but for our purposes, we can use it to expand our understanding of what's actually being filtered by the Source Filter.

Launch a diagnostic console, and put the following code into the extension function. The console will then continuously print out the alarm sources. That will show you what you are trying to filter using your source filter binding, and hopefully, it will help you to compose an appropriate expression to get the result you want. Just remember to disable the script at some point because it will continuously fill your console with unneeded information.

I'm not understanding you. I have no extension function when launching a diagnostic console? I am able to configure my Source Filter to show one particular alarm (out of three) that I have, but that's it.

The following actions were just an effort to show what the Source Filter is actually filtering. There's a lot of information contained in the "Source." The source includes the entire tag path, the triggered alarm path, and the alarm condition.

If you want to explore that, here are more detailed instructions:

Accessing Extension Functions: Right click on the alarm status table snd click scripting in the popup menu. The extension functions will be on the left side of the scripting window that appears. Once a function is selected, a script can be entered into the script tab at the top.

We had a server on 8.1.7 and two remote tag servers that got upgraded to 8.1.23. Everything seemed fine, but the system.alarm.queryStatus was reporting no alarms for the remote servers after the upgrade. Changing the alarm mode on each to Subscribed fixed the issue, thanks!

Hi, I am trying to use the alarm journal component in perspective. The alarm status table works well but the alarm journal shows nothing at all. I configured the alarm journal within the gateway, set up alarms in the alarm section in the designer. Is there another configuration missing here? Also, what is the big difference between alarm journal and alarm status apart to history ?

Thanks

Yes, as this thread already mentions, the alarm status table is always a live view of all alarms on the system (subject to filtering via extension function). Whereas the alarm journal table is only a view of the alarms that have been logged to a specific journal (subject to the filtering properties of that journal and the filtering extension function).

However, I may have saved MANY of you from throwing it out the window and spending hundreds on a new printer. When you open the "scan" lid, on the left side, you will see a "feeder bar" bar in white. To the left of that feeder bar, are two white, plastic tabs. Those can sometimes get caught up inside from various reasons....age, gunk, **bleep**, dog fur or anything else you can think of. If any one of those tabs are retracted in in the slightest, it will trigger an alarm. Simply, pull the tabs straight out. They will need to be able to touch the feeder bar and then you know they are out all the way. DO NOT tug very hard....they will pull out easily...no need for force. Once you pull those out, close the scan lid and follow the prompts on the screen. I believe it simply has (OK) somewhere on the screen. Hit that OK button and let it reset itself. The alarm light will then go away. I hope this helps you with your printer.

The Township of Holmdel has adopted an ordinance regulating alarm systems within the Township. All existing and new systems must comply with the ordinance. You can download an application form and a copy of the ordinance (PDF). Hard copies may also be picked up at the Holmdel Police Department Headquarters.

The application must be completed and returned to Police Headquarters as soon as possible. Please include the annual fee of $20 for a residential alarm permit, or $50 for a commercial alarm permit. If we find that your alarm system complies with the requirements of the ordinance, a permit will be issued to you that will allow continued operation. The Holmdel Police Department will advise you of items that need to be changed or adjusted in order to comply with the alarm ordinance. Non-conforming alarm systems will be ordered removed.

Due to an increased number of false alarms received by this department, we request that in the event you are aware your alarm system has been activated accidentally, please call Police Headquarters immediately at 732-946-4400, and give your alarm permit number to the dispatcher. When it can be determined over the telephone that no problem exists at the alarm protected premises, there will be no police response to that premises. A false alarm that is cleared in this manner will not be charged to your record. However, excess false alarms, causing police or fire units to respond, will result in a summons requiring your appearance in Municipal Court.

Click here to download the Alarm Permit Application (PDF). You may email your application to pdalarms@ci.missoula.mt.us or mail to the address below. If you wish to pay the application fee of $26.00 by credit card, please call (406) 552-6303.

All alarm users are required to submit an annual alarm user information form. This addresses alarms connected directly to the city's communication center, a private monitoring firm, a proprietary central station or any other structure where an installed alarm system is capable of sounding an alarm throughout the building via the activation of a single device.

False alarms place the lives and property of community members in jeopardy. While police and firefighters are responding to alarms that turn out to be false, they are less likely available to respond to alarms that are valid. In addition, the occupants are less likely to believe in their system with repeated false activations.

Ordinance 117-O-11 will increase the City of Evanston Police and Fire-related false alarm fees. This increase will take effect January 1, 2012. The ordinance would implement a 10% increase in police and fire-related false alarm fees. This was introduced at City Council on December 12, 2011 with expected approval on January 9, 2012. See fee structure and ordinance False Alarm Fee Increase

In 2002 the Police and Fire Departments responded to over 6,000 false alarms (Police 4,700 and Fire 1,333). Many of these alarms resulted from smaller systems located in residential settings. In an effort to reduce the number of false activations, City Council approved the following modifications to the false alarm ordinance in July of 2003:

The intent of the Ordinance is to encourage the alarm owners to maintain their systems so that they are reliable and have minimal false activations. The Ordinance has a "User Friendly" provision that allows the Alarm Administrator to waive an alarm occurrence if the owner took action to prevent the false alarm from recurring. All requests for waivers must be received by the Alarm Permit Coordinator in writing within thirty (30) days of the alarm occurrence. Requests should be mailed to Evanston Fire Life & Safety, 909 Lake Street, Evanston, IL 60202.

City Council also asks community members to research the proper usage of their alarm systems through manuals or by consulting their alarm dealers.

The Kennesaw Community Watch Alarm Registration program is a police/community partnership that operates on a voluntary basis with homeowners, neighborhoods and business owners, who own alarm security systems. We encourage both businesses and residents to register their alarm systems by completing the form below. There is no fee or cost involved in registering your alarm.

I can't find any information on this. I guess I am looking in the wrong places. The only two alarms I could find for system were invalid license and no rescue config. The alarm I got kind of sounds like no recuse config, but I saved mine and the light didn't go off. Any help would be appreciated. Just as a side not, I upgraded the web server to module-mode, and it is definitely much faster. I don't like using it, but when I have to it is not painfully slow anymore. Thanks

Thanks spuluka, but that was the first thing I tried, from the CLI first and then from the J-Web interface. My rescue config saved successfully both times, but the light is still there and the alarm is still there when I do 'show system alarms'. I can view my rescue config with 'show configuration rescue'.
