"Alan Kelley is one of the few editors I've actually learned from." ~ Rob Nilsson
Director/Producer and winner of the Cannes Caméra d'Or.
Alan cares most about combining words, images and sound in ways that allow viewers to feel something, ideally to feel differently about the world.
Almost every project has gone straight to air or final output often without the need for writers and comment notes from directors, producers, clients and executives.
On recent projects for the Djarum BTS docs, neither director's, or client notes were required for final output.
On episodes by Alan, who was Associate Producer/Video Editor at the Emmy Award winning LATIN EYES, the show's executive producers rarely even viewed episodes by Alan until they were broadcast. And yet the show was nominated five times and one win for original programming.
The execs noted that "Alan has been indispensable in helping us receive recognition of this caliber"
Yet every project has its own requirements and Alan tends to be an affable ally in collaborative work. Works fast and has only missed or become fazed by the pressure of deadlines when the technology melts down at the last minute.
Most projects edited on Avid Media Composer (Mac & PC).
The DJARUM pieces and Surprise edited in Adobe Premiere Pro. Also versed in After Effects, Photoshop, Cinema 4D and Blender.
Feature film - Stroke - Trailer with Ron Perlman - by Rob Nilsson.
