Take note of the weather. Heading out to the great outdoors demands one to check the weather first before leaving their home. Sudden rains and strong winds can be a good topic or subject for the shoot, but one has to be ready for what the weather might bring as this can damage their camera and other gear. If possible, scout the location beforehand. This would enable one to gain more knowledge about the location, potentially decreasing the time spent wandering. Also, be sure to pack the camera, lenses, tripod, extra batteries, and extra memory cards to avoid running out of juice.
Dress for the job. Wear weather-appropriate clothing. For most nature trips, sneakers are fine. However, in locations where the weather can be unpredictable, wearing breathable and comfortable clothes and footwear would be the best move. Arrive at the scene early. It is always great to capture the sun as it rises, casting its light over the land.
