His grandparents moved to the United States from the Philippines before his parents were born, seeking better opportunities and a brighter future for their family. Although Benigno has grown up in America, his heart is deeply connected to the Philippines, a country he hears about through the stories and traditions his family keeps alive.
A Special Bond with the Philippines
Benigno’s family occasionally visits their hometown in the Philippines. These visits are filled with joyful reunions, colorful festivals, and the warm embrace of extended family. However, Benigno also sees the challenges faced by many in the community—children his age without enough food, proper clothing, or access to books and clean water.
Inspired to Make a Difference
During one of these visits, Benigno felt a strong desire to help. He saw how much a little bit of assistance could mean to the children there. With a heart full of empathy and a mind buzzing with ideas, Benigno returned to America with a mission: to give back to his homeland and help improve the lives of Filipino children.
Starting Alagang Pilipino
Motivated by his experiences, Benigno decided to start Alagang Pilipino, a charity dedicated to providing essential resources like food, clothing, books, and clean water to families in need in the Philippines. Although the charity is in its early stages and nothing has happened yet, Benigno is determined to make a difference.
Raising Awareness and Funds
Using his love for coding and creativity, Benigno set up a small website to raise awareness and funds for Alagang Pilipino. He shared his personal story, explaining why helping children in the Philippines is so important to him. He reached out to friends, family, and his local community, encouraging them to donate and support his mission.
