When the tyre gets excited due to road input the resultant force acts on the suspension. Tyre-Road Input model transmits these forces to suspension, suspension absorbs large amount of forces and tries to restrict the vertical acceleration of the vehicle body using appropriate stiffness & damping.
The quarter vehicle ride model is created using Matlab-Simulink 2018 version. The model focuses on observation and analysis of suspension using simplified two and four degree of freedom suspension systems. The model contains both primary (2DOF) and extended (4DOF) versions. The results can be seen directly in Simulink environment and it can also be controlled using front end graphic user interface application developed using Matlab Apps. For studying and optimising the suspension behaviour, input parameters used are created in such a way that those can be manipulated easily at any time as per requirement, directly in ‘Simulink’ environment. The model is embedded with one Matlab script which generates the ‘Bode Plot’ graph for primary model, whenever the model is simulated.
