A.K. Raychaudhuri Centenary Symposium

11th and 12th August, 2023

Two-day symposium commemorating the works of 

Prof. Amal Kumar Raychaudhuri 

2023 marks the birth centenary of Professor Amal Kumar Raychaudhuri. Professor Raychaudhuri not only made path-breaking contributions to General Relativity and Cosmology but also acquired legendary status as a teacher who inspired several generations of physicists the world over. In Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata, he derived the celebrated 'Raychaudhuri Equation' which subsequently led to the formulation of Singularity Theorems . A two-day symposium is being jointly organized by Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research on August 11 and 12, 2023, to commemorate his birth centenary. The symposium will consist of talks on gravitation and related topics as well as discussions on Raychaudhuri's influential role.
