Akron Hydro Watch is a citizen science program that uses data collected through CrowdHydrology to track patterns in river hydrology.
Find a monitoring station near you and report water level data via a simple text message (See map of local sites here). Each reported measurement will automatically be displayed on a hydrograph (see example below) on the CrowdHydrology webpage for that site.
Akron Watershed staff adds value to these water level readings by measuring the total amount of water moving through the river at each station, which is called discharge. From these measurements, local natural resource managers can estimate the discharge based on the water level alone.
Every water level reading reported saves hours of staff time and tell us more about the river than we could ever know without your help.
