Research

Introduced several new notions in stochastic modeling, individually and in collaboration with research students/ collaborators, as indicated below (those are introduced since 1999):
1. Search of orbital customers in Retrial Queues.
2. Self generation of priority in queues.
3. Customer induced interruption in classical/retrial queues.
4. Introduced a random timer to control interruption in queues with server breakdown.
5. Internal generation of new queues in ordinary queues (with or without priority) and also in feedback queues with a single primary queue.
6. Single server queue offering several distinct services, not exactly knowing the service requirement of arriving customers.
7. Introduction of protection to items being produced at certain stages of production, to avoid damage to the item being produced.
8. The analysis of classical queue through retrial concept.
9. N-policy in working vacation queues where, for serving customer’s additional item is required.
10. Inter-dependence of consecutive arrival/service batch sizes in BMAP/BMSP queues.
11. Common life time of stored items, reservation of items and their cancellation and more recently the case of overbooking.
12. Retrial of failed components for repair in system reliability context.
13. Higher dimensional (> 1) Markov Chains—Distribution of the time till absorption is obtained.
14. Distribution of time till events occur in a correlated process is derived.
15. Reservation, Cancellation, Overbooking and Common Life Time of inventoried items for the next K time frames ahead.
The salient feature of analysis of the models described above is that they are studied in the most general set up. A few of these are being applied successfully in to two Indo-Russian projects that I have with a group at the Russian Academy of Sciences. The priority generation/self generation of priority models indicated in item 2 above is also being successfully implemented by a research team in the medical field in Canada.
