Research
Characterization of Perovskite materials used for 3rd generation solar cells. This research produced important results for the vibrational and electronic properties of these materials by identifying the experimental conditions required to draw safe conclusions about their structure. The study of the temperature dependence of luminescence on these materials was linked to their electronic structure and to the phenomenon of the 'emphanisis' of dynamic structural disorder in the cubic phase of high symmetry. The results correlated with the yields of these materials in photovoltaic cells.

Photocatalytic and hyperhydrophilic materials and films: Particularly important were the degradation of pollutants by using ferrites-based photocatalysts with plasmonic nanoparticles for that allow a) the activation of photocatalysis under solar radiation, b) the increase of photocatalytic efficiency and c) the separation of the photocatalyst by magnetic field. Also important was the contribution to the research of photocatalytic reduction of hexavalent Cr and photocatalytic conversion of CO2 to hydrocarbons.

Characterization of CO2 capture in advanced metal-organic frameworks by Raman and far-IR spectroscopy with emphasis on the study of collective low-frequency vibrations and CO2-host interactions
Spectroscopic distinction of healthy and cancerous tissues (BIOPHASMA project, GSRT-ESPA, Τ2ΕΔΚ-01223, 2020-2023, Coordinator). Raman spectroscopy was applied via a micro-Raman setup and a portable system which records signals remotely via a Raman probe in order to distinguish healthy and cancerous colorectal tissues. Multiple data are recorded from several samples received by twenty patients up to now. The data are processed and statistical analyzed to improve the accuracy of cancer recognition. The research is done in collaboration with other research teams and an IT company.
