Aklan is a province located in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. It is rich in history that includes the cultures of the indigenous languages before the Spanish conquest. Akeanon is the main language or language spoken by Aklanons in everyday communication.
Aklan was created as a regular province on 25 April 1956 by virtue of Republic Act No. 1414 signed by President Ramon Magsaysay of the Philippines. The province is divided into seventeen towns.
