If you want professional studio-grade sound isolation and accurate audio mixing for your creative work, choose AKG Pro Audio K371; if you need waterproof wireless headphones for swimming that let you listen to music without a phone, choose Opinta Swimming Headphones. These two devices serve entirely different worlds, and trying to force one into the other's role is a recipe for disappointment. One is built for the quiet precision of a recording booth, while the other is engineered to survive the chlorinated chaos of a pool lane.
• AKG Pro Audio K371: Offers legendary 5 Hz to 40 kHz frequency response and superior noise isolation for critical listening, but it is wired only and absolutely not designed for water exposure.
• Opinta Swimming Headphones: Delivers IPX8 waterproof protection with bone conduction technology for safe aquatic use, but lacks the acoustic fidelity required for professional audio production.
• Choose AKG if you are an engineer, podcaster, or producer who needs to hear every nuance in a dry environment.
• Choose Opinta if you are a swimmer or athlete who needs to stay connected to music while moving through water or crowded spaces.
The AKG Pro Audio K371 is not a lifestyle gadget; it is a tool for professionals who demand absolute accuracy. Its design philosophy centers on the "Reference Response" acoustic target, meaning it reproduces sound exactly as it was recorded, without adding artificial bass boost or treble sharpness. This makes it the ideal companion for anyone spending hours mixing tracks, editing podcasts, or mastering video content. The closed-back, over-ear design creates a seal that provides superior isolation, effectively cutting out the hum of a busy studio or the chatter of a coffee shop so you can focus entirely on the audio signal.
At its core lies a pair of titanium-coated 50mm transducers with pure oxygen-free copper voice coils. In the world of audio engineering, driver size and material matter immensely because they determine how cleanly the device can handle the full spectrum of human hearing. With a frequency response range stretching from 5 Hz to 40 kHz, these headphones capture the deepest sub-bass rumbles and the most sparkling high-hats that cheaper models simply miss. The sensitivity of 114 dB ensures that even subtle details in a mix are audible, allowing you to make confident decisions about EQ and compression.

However, this level of precision comes with specific trade-offs that dictate who should buy it. First and foremost, the K371 is strictly a wired device. It connects via a mini-XLR jack, requiring you to manage cables whether you are plugging into a professional audio interface or a portable player using the included adapters. There is no Bluetooth, no battery to charge, and certainly no ability to take them underwater. If your workflow requires total mobility without wires, or if you plan to wear them in the rain or near a pool, this product will fail you. It is built for the rigors of studio work, not the rigors of a swim. You should buy this if you value sonic purity above all else and have a dedicated space for your listening sessions. Skip it if you need a single pair of headphones to do everything from gaming to running to swimming.
The Opinta Swimming Headphones exist to solve a very specific problem: how to enjoy music while submerged. Most standard headphones, even expensive ones, cannot withstand being underwater, and standard Bluetooth signals cannot transmit through water. The Opinta X7 Pro bypasses this limitation by utilizing bone conduction technology and a massive internal storage system. This means you don't need to carry your smartphone to the poolside. You can load up to 8,000 tracks directly onto the 32GB memory card, switch the device to MP3 mode, and dive in with complete independence from your phone.
The construction is defined by its IPX8 waterproof rating. This isn't just splash resistance; it is a guarantee that the device can be fully submerged without damage from sweat, rain, or chlorine. The open-ear design is crucial here, as it allows sound waves to travel through your cheekbones rather than blocking your ear canal. This keeps your ears open to ambient sounds, which adds a layer of safety when you are outdoors or in a busy gym, though it also means you won't get the same noise isolation as the AKG. The device runs on Bluetooth 6.0 for terrestrial use, offering a stable connection up to 10 meters in crowded environments, but you must remember to switch modes before entering the water since Bluetooth does not function underwater.
Who fits this profile? This is the choice for the dedicated swimmer, the triathlete, or the runner who hates the hassle of tethered phones. The bone conduction driver type ensures that you can hear your own breathing and the rhythm of your strokes while still enjoying your playlist. However, you must accept that the audio quality will not match a high-end studio monitor. The priority here is durability and functionality, not Hi-Fi fidelity. You should buy this if your primary activity involves water or if you need a hands-free solution that stays secure during intense movement. Skip it if you are looking for deep, immersive bass or if you need to block out a noisy office environment to focus on detailed work.
• Best for Swimming → Opinta Swimming Headphones: Only the Opinta unit has the IPX8 rating and MP3 storage required for underwater use.
• Best for Studio Mixing → AKG Pro Audio K371: The 5 Hz to 40 kHz frequency response and reference tuning make the AKG the only viable option for professional audio work.
• Best for Battery Independence (in water) → Opinta Swimming Headphones: With 32GB of onboard storage, you never need a phone while swimming.
• Best for Sound Isolation → AKG Pro Audio K371: The closed-back design physically blocks external noise, whereas the Opinta leaves your ears open.

• Best for Safety Awareness → Opinta Swimming Headphones: Bone conduction lets you hear traffic and surroundings, unlike the isolating AKG.
• Best Portability (Wireless) → Opinta Swimming Headphones: Wireless Bluetooth 6.0 allows untethered use on land, while the AKG is permanently wired.
• Best Driver Technology → AKG Pro Audio K371: Large 50mm dynamic drivers offer a wider, more accurate soundstage than bone conduction.
I would buy the Opinta Swimming Headphones if my goal was to stay active and keep music playing while I am in the pool, as there is simply no alternative for underwater audio. However, for my actual daily listening, mixing, and content creation, I would reach for the AKG Pro Audio K371. The difference in audio fidelity is too vast to ignore. The AKG gives me the truth of the recording, while the Opinta gives me the convenience of movement. If you are torn between these two, ask yourself what your primary environment is. If you spend your day in front of a computer or in a booth, the AKG is the clear winner. If your life happens in the water or on the move where water is involved, the Opinta is the only logical choice. Do not try to use the AKG for swimming; it will break. Do not expect the Opinta to replace your studio monitors; it cannot.
