If you want high-fidelity studio monitoring with deep, accurate bass for critical listening while watching TV, choose AKG K72; if you need a portable all-in-one audio hub that plays physical discs wirelessly and fits on any desk, choose Qobayleo CD Player. These two devices occupy completely different worlds in the audio landscape, serving users who prioritize sound precision versus those who crave format versatility and mobility. I have analyzed the specifications of both units to help you decide which one truly fits your setup, especially when the goal is an immersive experience during TV viewing or casual home listening.
• AKG K72: Its biggest strength is the professional-grade 40mm dynamic driver delivering a flat, reference-monitor response from 16Hz to 20kHz with excellent isolation; its trade-off is that it requires a wired connection and external source, offering no built-in playback capability.
• Qobayleo CD Player: Its biggest strength is the self-contained design featuring dual stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.1 transceiver modes, and a robust anti-skip buffer for smooth playback on the go; its trade-off is that it lacks the audiophile-grade frequency extension and isolation required for critical mixing or deep immersion in a quiet room.
• Who each pick is for: The AKG K72 is for the listener who needs accurate sound reproduction and comfort for long sessions, while the Qobayleo CD Player is for the collector or traveler who wants to play their disc library without a separate system.
The AKG K72 is engineered specifically for the studio environment, yet its design makes it a compelling choice for serious home listeners who demand accuracy. At the core of this device are the 40mm professional drivers, which provide a frequency response ranging from 16 Hz to 20 kHz. This extended low-frequency range is not just about volume; it provides the definition necessary to hear the nuance in kick drums and bass guitars, ensuring that what you hear matches the original recording perfectly. When used for TV watching, this level of detail allows you to catch subtle sound effects and dialogue clarity that cheaper headphones often miss. The closed-back design is a critical feature here, as it maximizes sound isolation, blocking out ambient noise so you can focus entirely on the content playing on your screen.
Comfort is another pillar of the K72's design, making it suitable for marathon viewing sessions. The lightweight construction weighs only 500 grams, and the self-adjusting headband ensures a perfect fit without applying excessive pressure. Unlike many budget options that cause fatigue after an hour, the K72 is built to deliver hours of comfort, whether you are tracking a hook or mixing background harmonies. The earpads are replaceable, which protects your investment over time and ensures hygiene and longevity. The cable is a single-sided non-detachable 1/8" TRS cord measuring 9.8 feet, giving you plenty of reach from your TV or media player, and it includes a 1/4" screw-on adapter for compatibility with various audio outputs.

However, this product is not for everyone. If you are looking for a wireless solution or a standalone music player that works without a phone or computer, the K72 will disappoint you. It relies entirely on an external source and does not have a battery, meaning you must always be plugged into an amplifier, receiver, or TV headphone jack. The sensitivity is high at 112 dB, which means it pairs well with most devices, but the impedance of 32 ohms still requires a dedicated output to perform correctly. It is a tool for listening, not a source. If your primary use case involves moving around the house, driving, or needing a device that runs independently, this wired, passive headphone is the wrong path.
The Qobayleo CD Player is designed for the modern user who refuses to let their physical media collection gather dust. It serves as a complete audio ecosystem in a single compact unit, eliminating the need for a bulky stereo system or multiple adapters. The standout feature is its ability to play standard CDs, CD-R/RW discs, and MP3 files stored on USB flash drives, all through built-in dual 2W stereo speakers. This makes it an ideal "all-in-one hub" for living rooms, bedrooms, or even outdoor settings where you want room-filling sound without setting up complex wiring. The circular, retro design with a see-through top lid adds a visual aesthetic that looks great on any desk or shelf, turning the player into a piece of decor rather than just a utility.
For those concerned about portability and durability, the Qobayleo offers significant advantages. It features a 60-second electronic buffer for standard CDs and a 120-second buffer for MP3-formatted discs, effectively solving the common issue of skipping when walking, commuting, or driving on bumpy roads. The battery life is substantial, providing up to 12 hours of continuous playback on a single charge via a rechargeable 2000mAh battery, though some configurations may rely on 9V batteries depending on the specific setup. Connectivity is equally versatile with Bluetooth 5.1 technology that functions as a two-way transceiver. You can use it in transmitter mode to send audio from the CD player to wireless headphones or speakers, which is perfect for late-night listening when you do not want to disturb others. Alternatively, you can switch to receiver mode to stream music from your smartphone or tablet directly through the player's own speakers.
This device also caters to specific learning needs with its A-B repeat function, allowing users to loop any segment from point A to point B. This is invaluable for language learners or audiobook enthusiasts who need to replay specific phrases repeatedly. Additionally, the PROG memory feature lets you program up to 20 favorite tracks in a custom order, and the last position memory automatically resumes playback where you left off. However, it is important to note that while it has a 3.5mm headphone jack for private listening, the audio quality is optimized for general entertainment rather than critical studio monitoring. It is a fantastic gift for anyone who loves the tactile experience of CDs but wants the convenience of modern connectivity, provided they do not need the absolute highest fidelity available in the market.

If I were building a dedicated listening station for my living room to watch movies and listen to music, I would buy the AKG K72. The reason is simple: for TV watching, the priority is clarity and isolation. The K72's closed-back design and extended frequency response provide a depth of sound that the Qobayleo simply cannot match. While the Qobayleo is a marvel of engineering for a portable player, it is designed for general enjoyment and mobility, not for revealing the finest details of a soundtrack. The AKG K72 connects directly to my TV or audio interface, and the 9.8-foot cable gives me enough freedom to move slightly without losing the signal. In my opinion, the superior driver quality and isolation make it the definitive choice for anyone who takes their viewing experience seriously. However, if your goal is to simply play your old CD collection on the couch without plugging anything in, the Qobayleo wins hands down.
No, neither product fits this description. The AKG K72 is a closed-back, over-ear wired headphone, not an open-ear earbud. The Qobayleo is a standalone CD player with speakers, not earbuds. If you strictly require open-ear earbuds, you will need to look for a different category of product entirely.
Yes, the Qobayleo CD Player includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and supports Bluetooth 5.1. You can connect waterproof in-ear headphones either via the wired jack or by pairing them wirelessly in transmitter mode, making it a flexible option for private listening while watching TV.
No, the AKG K72 does not have built-in electronics, microphones, or voice assistants. It is a purely analog, passive device designed for audio playback. To use a voice assistant, you would need to connect it to a smart device that supports that functionality, as the headphones themselves have no processing power or controls for such features.
