If you want a lightweight, semi-open studio standard with a massive 3-meter cable for flexible desk setups, choose AKG 240; if you need deep bass enhancement, a carrying case, and a modern driver setup optimized for low-end monitoring during calls or mixing, choose NFACOUS NH20.
• AKG 240: Its greatest strength is the legendary semi-open design that balances airy highs with solid bass, paired with a self-adjusting headband for long-term comfort; its biggest trade-off is the lack of passive noise isolation and the sheer bulk of the included cables.
• NFACOUS NH20: It shines with enhanced low-frequency response below 100Hz, a dual-vector driver setup for precise sound staging, and a durable ballistic nylon carrying case; however, it relies on a shorter standard cable length and a fully closed design that may feel warmer than open models.
• The AKG K 240 MK II is perfect for engineers who need a neutral, breathable reference tool for long sessions in quiet environments.
• The NFACOUS NH20 is ideal for producers and vocalists who prioritize punchy bass, better isolation, and portability with a hard-shell case.
The AKG K 240 MK II is built for the professional who spends hours staring at a waveform without wanting their ears to ache. This over-ear headphone utilizes a semi-open technology that allows air to move through the ear cups, creating a soundstage that feels wide and natural. This design choice is critical for anyone doing detailed mixing work where they need to hear exactly what is happening across the frequency spectrum without the artificial boost of a closed-back seal. The patented Varimotion 30 mm XXL transducer delivers accurate signal transfer with a dynamic range that captures subtle details in the mix. If you are working in a controlled environment like a recording studio or a home office where external noise is minimal, this headphone becomes an extension of your workflow rather than a barrier.
Comfort is not an afterthought here; it is a core engineering feature. The self-adjusting headband automatically distributes weight across the top of your head, ensuring that the clamping force remains consistent regardless of head size. This means you can wear these for a four-hour podcast recording session or a late-night mixing job without the pressure points that plague many other headphones. The earpads are designed to envelop the ears comfortably, and the fact that they are replaceable adds to the longevity of the unit. You get two pairs of pads in the box—velvet and leatherette—which lets you swap materials based on your preference for breathability or durability.

However, this headphone is not for everyone. Because of the semi-open design, it offers no passive noise cancellation. Sound from outside will bleed in, and your audio will bleed out. If you plan to use these as sleep headphones for calls while sharing a room with a partner or family member, the leakage could be disruptive. Furthermore, while the detachable cable system is robust, the inclusion of a 3-meter straight cable and a 5-meter coiled cable suggests a desktop-first philosophy. These cables are long, but they require management on a cluttered desk. If you need a wireless solution or a compact setup for travel, the sheer length and wired nature might feel restrictive compared to more portable options.
The NFACOUS NH20 enters the conversation as a modern reference monitor designed with specific attention to the lower end of the spectrum. Unlike traditional studio monitors that aim for absolute neutrality, this model takes special measures to enhance the low-frequency response below 100Hz. This makes it significantly easier to hear the kick drum, the bass line, and the harmonic progression of a track. For someone doing call production or vocal tracking, the NFACOUS NH20 also boosts the vocal frequency range to reduce the impact of bone conduction, allowing singers to hear their own voice more clearly without masking. This focus on specific frequency ranges makes it a powerful tool for those who need to make quick decisions about bass-heavy content.
The engineering behind the driver setup is equally impressive. The NF ACOUS MC2L-400 Dynamic Driver features a beryllium-plated diaphragm made of polymer material, which helps achieve ultra-low distortion. What stands out most is the Dual-Vector Driver Setup, which arranges the driver plane with two degrees of freedom tilt. This aligns the driver more nearly parallel to the human ear plane, theoretically improving acoustic performance and comfort. The ear cups themselves are constructed from cashmere microfiber and hydrolysis-resistant PU leather, paired with high-density slow-rebound sponge. This combination offers excellent sound insulation, making them a viable option for environments where you need to block out some ambient noise during a call or a focused listening session.
Portability and protection are where this product truly differentiates itself from the competition. The package includes a hard storage case made of ballistic nylon with a high-strength double-layer EVA inner lining. This is a significant advantage for users who travel between studios, gig locations, or remote workspaces. The case ensures that the headphones survive being tossed into a bag without damage. Additionally, the cable connection is designed with a unique circuit that allows normal sound output regardless of whether the plug is inserted into the left or right side, eliminating user error during setup. While the impedance is slightly lower at 50 ohms compared to the AKG, the sensitivity of 125 dB suggests it will drive easily from various sources, including mobile devices with adapters.

• Best for wide soundstage and natural airiness → AKG 240, thanks to its semi-open architecture.
• Best for long-duration comfort without adjustment → AKG 240, featuring the self-adjusting headband.
• Best for travel and equipment protection → NFACOUS NH20, which comes with a dedicated ballistic nylon hard case.
• Best for desk flexibility with long reach → AKG 240, offering up to 5 meters of cable length.
• Best for isolating vocals from bone conduction → NFACOUS NH20, specifically tuned for singer monitoring.
• Best for passive noise isolation → NFACOUS NH20, as the closed-back design blocks external sound better.
• Best for versatile pad replacement → AKG 240, providing both velvet and leatherette options in the box.
In my opinion, if you are looking for the best bluetooth headphones for calls that double as a serious monitoring tool, the NFACOUS NH20 is the smarter buy. While the AKG 240 is a timeless classic, the NFACOUS NH20's enhanced low-end and superior isolation make it far more practical for modern communication needs where clarity and focus are paramount. I would choose the NFACOUS NH20 because the included hard case and the specific tuning for vocal and bass frequencies provide a complete package for both professional work and daily calls. It feels more like a modern tool ready for the road, whereas the AKG feels like a stationary piece of studio furniture. Both are wired, so neither is truly "wireless," but the NFACOUS handles the physical demands of a busy schedule better.
Neither model is ideal for sleeping due to their over-ear design, but the NFACOUS NH20 offers better passive noise cancellation, which might help you focus on the call without hearing background noise. The AKG 240 leaks sound, so it is less suitable for shared sleeping spaces.
No, both the AKG 240 and NFACOUS NH20 are wired headphones only. They do not have internal batteries or Bluetooth capabilities, so they cannot be charged via USB-C for wireless use. You must connect them directly to a device using the provided 3.5mm cables.
The AKG 240 provides a more neutral, open sound signature preferred for general mixing, while the NFACOUS NH20 offers a warmer, bass-forward response that is better for checking low-end balance and vocal clarity. Your choice depends on whether you prefer an open or closed monitoring experience.
The AKG 240 features replaceable ear pads (velvet and leatherette) and detachable cables that are very long, reducing strain on the jack. The NFACOUS NH20 uses hydrolysis-resistant PU leather and includes a rotating locking mechanism on the jack to ensure a secure connection, along with a protective hard case for the entire unit.
