Like our 2025 Israel Trauma Mission, this program has been carefully designed for mental health professionals who feel a genuine alignment with Israel, and wish to study its response to the individual and collective repercussions of terror and war.
We will engage directly with pioneering Israeli trauma therapists working on the front lines of healing. Their work—rooted in Israeli culture and shaped by extraordinary resilience and creativity—offers novel approaches to trauma healing amid profound and sustained challenges.
Our missions were envisioned by Ilene Serlin z”l, a renowned psychologist and beloved dance therapist who passed away in 2024, just a few weeks before our initial journey was to take place. Those of us who deeply loved Ilene committed ourselves to bringing her vision to life.
With deep gratitude for her legacy, our first mission was held in June 2025, despite sudden, widespread lockdown conditions related to the war with Iran. Under the stewardship of the American Jewish Medical Association (AJMA), we gathered for moving presentations and meaningful conversations with exceptional speakers. Our 2025 mission website reflects these experiences through recordings, photographs, and reflections that capture both the mission itself and aspects of daily life in Israel during wartime.
Our 2026 mission will build on that foundation, with tours of several centers created and led by the most memorable presenters from our experience in 2025. We will also visit the Gaza envelope, and meet with other vibrant leaders and innovators in Israeli society.
