We have many customers that stop by in person or call worried because they are not really sure what the difference between material is or what type of material is even in their budget. At A&J Granite you do not have to worry and there is no such thing as a dumb question.
You do not have to come fully prepared knowing what you want yet and are welcome to call anytime or schedule a consultation so we may discuss project details and pricing as well as material. While there are many choices to choose from, sometimes we see things online as well but we don't know what we are looking at, we just know we like it. Providing us with inspo photos, plans, and even sketches of your project are all super helpful and make us get a visual of what you are thinking for your remodel or new build. Below i've added some photos so you can get an idea of material choices for starters.
"The most affordable of them all"
Granite pricing is going to start out as the most budget-friendly option when you are looking into natural stone. You will see this consistent speckled-like pattern throughout the entire slab. This material is perfect for remodels, rental units or flips. Granite is a porous stone so it requires sealing. This helps to prevent discoloration, stains and preserving that shine over time.
Going with a level 2 is a nice upgrade but still on the more affordable side when we are comparing to the engineered stone (quartz). With these slabs you see a pattern that is more spread out and will notice some parts of the slab look totally different than another end. The beauty in granite is its uniqueness and this image also shows a beautiful full height backsplash add-on which gives it a more expensive look without going to a higher grade material.
If you have decided that you want mainly white-based material you can stop looking at granite because what you are wanting is probably a quartz! Starting price for quartz is about a $10 starting price jump from that level 2 granite. An option to keep price down may be to opt for that full height backsplash and do a standard size or do a different material here entirely. Quartz, unlike granite does NOT require sealing because it is created with resins and is not porous.
This option can vary in pricing but most top-tier products come with a warranty, may be more resistant in general and have nice refined patterns so they are very often used especially in kitchens. High end quartz contains a higher percentage of natural quartz approx 93-96% so less resin. We recommend quality brands like Cambria who is known to be a top-tier manufacturer.
Quartzite sounds like it would be an engineered quartz but is really 100% natural stone just like granite. Many customers are confused with all these selections and similar names that sound like something they are not, and that is why we are here :D Pricing on quartzite is up there with the high end quartz so be prepared to spend a little more. This photo is a customer favorite and the most-liked by everyone who encounters its beauty, Taj Mahal quartzite.
We look forward to working with you on your next natural stone or engineered countertop project!
