Dr. Ajay Kumar Sharma is serving as Deputy Librarian (Stage–4) and In-charge, Cheena Bhavana Library, with additional charge of Hindi Bhavana Library, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan. He is a dedicated library and information science professional with more than 18 years of professional experience in the field of academic librarianship, digital resources, scholarly communication, and library services.

Dr. Sharma holds a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science. He completed his Bachelor of Arts (Geography Honours), followed by Bachelor of Library and Information Science (B.L.I.S.) and Master of Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi.

He qualified the University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lectureship in Library Science in December 2005. Subsequently, he was awarded the prestigious Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Library and Information Science through the UGC-NET in December 2006.

Throughout his professional career, Dr. Sharma has been actively engaged in library administration, academic library services, digital library initiatives, electronic information resources, and research support services. He has participated in numerous national-level seminars, conferences, workshops, and professional development programmes, contributing to the advancement of library and information science.

He has also made significant contributions to scholarly communication through the publication of research papers and articles in national conferences, seminars, and professional publications. His professional interests and experience reflect a strong commitment to the application of emerging technologies and innovative practices in academic libraries.

Prior to joining Visva-Bharati, Dr. Sharma served as an Assistant Librarian at the Central Library of Mangalayatan University, Aligarh. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Project Associate with the INDEST-AICTE Consortium, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), at the Central Library, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, where he gained valuable experience in electronic information resources and library consortium activities.

With a strong blend of academic qualifications, professional expertise, research experience, and technological orientation, Dr. Sharma continues to contribute to the development of modern library services and the effective dissemination of scholarly information at Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan.
