Welcome to the research page of the Multiscale Fluid Dynamics and Turbulence (M-FDT) lab, led by Dr. Aditya Aiyer. We are a part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics at Lehigh University.
Our research interests are focused on gaining deeper insight into multiphase and multiscale fluid flows using theory, modeling, and high-fidelity numerical simulations. Additionally, we develop theoretical and machine learning models based on the generated data to improve predictions, upscale models, and develop subgrid-scale parameterizations. The scientific insights gleaned will be used to develop models to enable the rapid prototyping of complex systems and accelerate discovery in climate modeling, renewable energy, and industrial processes.

November 2023: Prof. Aiyer presents his work on "Modeling the effects of swell and vertical wave motions in wall-modeled Large Eddy Simulation of offshore wind farms" at the APS-DFD meeting in Washington DC
October 2023: Prof. Aiyer travels to Puerto Rico to attend the Flow, Turbulence, and Wind Energy Symposium
August 2023: Prof. Aiyer starts as an Assistant Professor at Lehigh University
