I’m grateful to Manaweb School in Fukuoka, Japan for inviting me as a guest teacher at their international event. Although I’ve organized many events for university students and professionals, working with elementary school kids was a refreshing and completely new experience.
I introduced the students to my home country, Kazakhstan, our history, language, food, and traditional games, all in English, giving them a chance to practice listening and speaking. They even tried greeting each other in Kazakh and picked it up incredibly quickly.
Thank you to Kana Suezumi-san and the Manaweb Team for creating such a warm, creative learning environment. I was inspired by how openly the kids expressed themselves once trust was built, and how thoughtfully the teachers guided them.
Their feedback meant a lot to me:
“She made eye contact and helped the kids feel comfortable. I hope she comes again!” — Kana Suezumi
“Good smile, good voice. Aiya crouched down to the kids’ level and listened carefully.” — Kijima-san
This experience reminded me how much authenticity, curiosity, and kindness matter when teaching children—and I’m deeply grateful for every moment.
