Profile: Dr. Venu Gopal Madhav Annamdas is an internationally recognized researcher and technologist with over 25 years of experience across academia and industry in Singapore, the USA, and India. Throughout his tenure at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore., he has served in numerous capacities, including Research Scholar (School of Civil and Environmental Engineering - CEE), Project Officer (CEE), Research Fellow (Schools of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering - MAE, and CEE), Senior Research Fellow (CEE, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering - EEE), Senior Specialist (Continental-NTU Corporate Lab), and Senior Research Scientist (Energy Research Institute @ NTU - ERI@N). Dr. Annamdas holds a PhD from NTU Singapore, a MicroMasters® in Project Management from RIT (USA), and a PMP® credential from PMI (USA). His career spans pioneering work in Piezoelectric Structural Health Monitoring (SHM)—including the world’s first deployment in an MRT station—as well as smart city robotics, haptic UX systems, and low-cost IoT platforms. He has authored over 30 international journal publications, 35 conference papers, 3 book chapters, and holds three patents, including the 2025 Singapore innovation on Smart AI Thermal Tiles using multi-agent reinforcement learning. He has been awarded multimillion-dollar grants, including a $2.06M project funded by Liteon Singapore, and previously held a Young Scientist Research Grant from India’s Ministry of Science & Technology. He was recently awarded with a prestigious Er Avinash Shirode Yashokirti Award 2026 from Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Alumni Association. He is a strong advocate for collaborative innovation, he has partnered with government agencies, global research institutions, and Fortune 500 companies including Continental Automotive Singapore, DSTA Singapore, and HSBC Singapore. With a passion for impactful research and student mentorship, Dr. Annamdas is committed to building human-centric, data-driven solutions for a sustainable future. He is a frequent keynote speaker, an editorial board member, and an outreach leader—having conducted over 1100 interviews and workshops globally to bridge science, technology, and society.
