Aisha Huisar is an award-winning educator, curator and professional development provider. She specializes in developing students’ socio-emotional competencies, literacy, and math capabilities by building their confidence and skill set. With nearly 20 years of teaching experience in urban, suburban and alternative educational settings, Aisha discovered that every student desires to succeed, but requires support, services, and a safe environment.
In addition to teaching, Aisha serves as a curator for the community exhibition, A Child’s Vision. Her passion for racial and social justice led her to assist in organizing a family-friendly, Black Lives Matter protest and peace circle in Orland Park, Illinois. With hundreds of families in attendance, Aisha was compelled to archive the 2020 experience by interviewing protesters. With assistance from local artists and community members, A Child's Vision was born. This exhibition has been featured in various libraries, Prairie Hills Elementary School District 144 and the Forest Preserves of Cook County.
Aisha strongly believes in creating safe and equitable educational institutions, where all professionals strive to provide the highest-quality education and service to students, families and the community. Aisha has presented at distinguished educational conferences including the NEA National Leadership Summit and the IEA Aspiring Educators Conference. Aisha is a keynote speaker and professional development provider, offering webinars and workshops on “Creating Welcoming and Inclusive Learning Environments”, “SEL and Equity”, “Exploring Bias: From Awareness to Action”, and “Leaders for Just Schools Rise Together”.
As a life-long learner, Aisha is dedicated to perfecting her craft. She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Chicago State University, where she obtained her Illinois Professional Educators License with endorsements in Reading, Language Arts, Social Science and Middle School. Aisha also received her master’s degree in Measurement, Evaluation, Statistics and Assessment and a certificate in Data Analytics from the University of Illinois Chicago. In 2023, Aisha was selected from a nation-wide pool for the prestigious NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellowship. She proudly represented the United States in South Africa meeting with policymakers, nonprofit leaders and visiting educational institutions. Her passion for global justice inspired her to obtain a certificate in Equitable Community Change from Cornell University. Aisha is currently taking coursework to obtain her Learning Behavior 1 Specialist endorsement (LBS 1).
