Alex Thomas is a teacher, mom, and proud Blue Devil running for Justice of the Peace, District 2 in Crittenden County.

A lifelong West Memphis resident, Alex attended the West Memphis School District from kindergarten through graduation. After earning her bachelor’s degree in History with an emphasis in Minority Studies from the University of Arkansas in 2020, she discovered a passion for education. She completed her master’s in Special Education from the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

For nearly a decade, Alex has worked in special education, first as a paraprofessional and now as a teacher at the Academies of West Memphis. Her classroom focuses on developing life skills, job training, and promoting inclusion. She leads programs such as the student-run Devils Den Coffee Cart and oversees a school clothes closet, giving students hands-on experience and meeting real needs with dignity.

Alex is a member of the 2024 Crittenden County Leadership Class, and she completed the EMERGE Arkansas Signature Training Cohort for 2025. She is running for Justice of the Peace because she believes our county deserves leadership that listens, plans, and addresses problems before they escalate. Her priorities are affordability, access to resources, and accountability issues that affect every household in Crittenden County.

Not a politician by trade, Alex is a teacher and a mom who believes in showing up, listening, and doing the work. When she’s not teaching, you’ll find her with her family, editing photos, or relaxing with a good podcast and her dogs nearby. She loves learning new things and is a proud Taylor Swift fan.
