How to reach
Arriving Prayagraj
By Air: Prayagraj Airport is a domestic airport, connected to several airports in the country, which is about 25 km from the HRI campus. One can book a cab from the airport, which costs approximately Rs. 1000. The other nearby airports to Prayagraj are Varanasi and Lucknow.
By Train: Prayagraj is well-connected by trains to all major cities in India. There are many trains every day between Prayagraj and Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai operated by Indian Railways. You need to arrive at one of the railway stations in Prayagraj (Allahabad). Please note that Prayagraj Junction (PRYJ) is the main railway station in Prayagraj.
How to reach the HRI Campus
In Prayagraj, the Harish-Chandra Research Institute is commonly referred to as HRI. The Institute campus is 13 km away from Prayagraj (Allahabad) Junction railway Station. There are two ways to get to the campus from the railway station.
HRI Bus from the Station: The institute runs a regular bus service between the railway station and the campus. To avail this service, exit the station on the civil lines side of the station. The bus stop is close to the Patthar Girijaghar (All Saints Cathedral). HRI buses are white in colour, medium-sized, and have the institute name written on them. At night, they have a bright green LED display on the front which says HRI. The bus service is free for visitors and their accompanying family members.
Booking an autorickshaw (tempo)/taxi from the Station to the HRI Campus: To book a tempo/taxi, exit the station on the civil lines side. The taxi/tempo stand is close to the parking lot. You should ask the driver to take you to the HRI campus on Chattnag road in Jhusi. Useful landmarks close to the campus (which locals are quite familiar with) are the Sadaphal Dev Ashram, Birla School, and Chattnag Ghat. A tempo can seat up to five people, and the booking cost is approximately Rs. 300. The taxi booking cost is approximately Rs. 500.
