Binter Airlines, also known as Binter Canarias, was founded on February 18, 1988, and began operations on March 26, 1989. Initially, it was a subsidiary of Iberia, created to connect the Canary Islands by air. The airline's first flight took off from Tenerife North Airport and headed for Gran Canaria.
In 2002, a group of Canarian investors acquired Binter Canarias from Iberia, marking a significant turning point in the airline's history. The airline expanded its operations internationally in 2005, adding direct flights to destinations such as Marrakech, El Aaiún, and Madeira.
Today, Binter Airlines operates several subsidiaries, including Binter Canarias, Binter Cabo Verde, and Canair. The airline continues to play a crucial role in connecting the Canary Islands and beyond, maintaining a strong presence in the regional aviation market.
