CAREER GOALS
When I was applying for my residency training, I was asked the question, why family medicine.
Family medicine is a dynamic field of practice which caters patient from children to geriatrics. A patients first contact with a physician is very important in stregthening a patient or family's health seeking behavior. I came from a community whein there are still quack doctor, sometimes called albulayro or ''binisa''. Some people in our community believes them more than doctors who have scientific evidence of treatment and cure. This is just one of the things that inspired me to become a family and community physician.
As a resident I want to be well equipped and competent doctor so that when I go back to my province I can help improve the health of my people.
5 years from now I see myself as an effecient primary care physician in my hometown. So that the patients wont have to go far place to seek consult to their illness. I also want to be a good doctor who is trusted by people so they wont need to dwell with ''Binisaya'' treatment. My vision is not just to treat patient but promote preventive measures which will then lead to a better health, and better quality of life. I want children from my community be healthy and active. And I want to see more geriatrics patients functional at age 70 and above.
