The AI for Resilient Infrastructure Systems (AiRIS) Lab—led by Debasish Jana in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University—advances next-generation AI frameworks to enhance the resilience, safety, and adaptability of infrastructure systems exposed to compound and cascading hazards.

We pursue foundational research questions such as:

• How can AI frameworks effectively optimize infrastructure resilience strategies over time under uncertainty?

• What is the role of agent behaviors and hazard interactions in shaping system-wide risk?

• How can asynchronous, high-resolution data sources be fused to inform real-time infrastructure decisions?

By bridging AI, high-performance computing, and infrastructure science, AiRIS delivers decision-support tools that help cities and agencies build back stronger and prepare smarter for the challenges ahead.
