The Air Canada Terminal serves passengers traveling with Air Canada through Ottawa International Airport (YOW) in Ottawa, Ontario. The airport is located at 1000 Airport Parkway Private and provides convenient access to the city and surrounding communities. Travelers can use the terminal for flight check-in, baggage drop-off, security screening, departures, arrivals, and connecting-flight services. Because airport operations and gate assignments can change, passengers should confirm their flight information before leaving for the airport.
Air Canada YOW Terminal passengers can find airline check-in facilities on Level 3 of Ottawa International Airport. YOW has separate areas for Canada/International and U.S.-bound passengers, making it easier to follow the appropriate airport process. After completing check-in and baggage procedures, passengers can follow airport signs toward the applicable security checkpoint and departure gate. The airport provides several facilities for travelers before and after security. These include restaurants, shops, ATMs, baggage carts, accessible facilities, passenger assistance, and other airport amenities.
Passengers can manage many Air Canada travel requirements before arriving at YOW. Booking-related services may include purchasing a ticket, selecting available seats, reviewing itinerary details, and managing eligible changes or cancellations. Travelers should check the conditions attached to their particular fare because cancellation and change rules can vary. Air Canada also provides online and mobile check-in beginning 24 hours before departure. Passengers can obtain a boarding pass, select or change an available seat, indicate checked baggage, and review other check-in options before arriving at the airport.
Airport check-in is an important part of the departure process. Passengers traveling with Air Canada can use the airport's check-in facilities and follow signs to the appropriate counter or kiosk. At YOW, airline check-in counters are located on Level 3. Passengers who have already checked in online may be able to proceed directly to baggage drop-off when they need to check luggage. Air Canada states that travelers can print baggage tags at airport kiosks or receive assistance at an Air Canada baggage counter.
Baggage services are available for passengers traveling through the Air Canada YOW Terminal. Travelers should check their ticket or Air Canada's current baggage information to determine applicable baggage allowances, size restrictions, weight limits, and fees. YOW also provides baggage carts to help passengers move luggage through the airport. The airport notes that baggage allowances differ by airline and may include restrictions on the number, weight, and size of checked items. For passengers requiring baggage assistance, Air Canada provides baggage-related services and information for delayed or damaged luggage. Travelers should retain baggage receipts and report problems promptly according to the airline's procedures.
Visa and travel-document requirements depend on the destination, nationality, and type of journey. Travelers should check the requirements for their destination before arriving at Ottawa International Airport. YOW advises passengers to carry appropriate identification and notes that each country establishes its own visa requirements. For international journeys, passengers may need a valid passport, visa, electronic travel authorization, or additional documentation. Air Canada also provides travel-document and customs information as part of its trip-planning resources.
Ottawa Airport offers a range of passenger services designed to support travelers before departure and after arrival. Available facilities include food and beverage outlets, retail stores, ATMs, baggage carts, luggage storage, hydration stations, accessibility services, and animal relief areas. Passengers can also use airport assistance services when additional support is required. Accessibility assistance may include wheelchair support and help moving through check-in, the terminal, security, boarding, and baggage areas. Travelers should contact their airline in advance when they require specific assistance.
Passengers looking for a comfortable place to relax can use the Aspire Lounge in the Canada/International gate area. According to YOW, the lounge is available to passengers regardless of airline or ticket class, subject to its admission arrangements. Facilities include food and beverages, workspace access, seating, and views of the airfield. The lounge can be useful for travelers who arrive early or have time before their flight. Passengers should check current lounge access conditions before traveling.
Travelers can stay connected using the airport's free YOW-WiFi network. Ottawa International Airport upgraded its Wi-Fi service to provide faster, more reliable, and more secure wireless connectivity throughout the terminal. Passengers can use the connection for checking flight information, communicating with family, working, browsing the internet, or managing travel arrangements while waiting for departure.
After completing Air Canada check-in and baggage procedures, passengers proceed to the appropriate security screening area. YOW operates separate screening arrangements for Canada/International and U.S. passengers. Travelers should allow sufficient time for check-in, baggage drop, security, and walking to their gate. Boarding gates and flight information can change, so passengers should monitor airport displays and their Air Canada flight information throughout the departure process.
Ottawa International Airport also supports passengers connecting between Canadian, U.S., and international destinations. Connecting procedures can differ depending on the origin, destination, airline, and whether baggage has been checked through to the final destination. YOW provides specific guidance for passengers connecting through the airport, including Air Canada travelers. Passengers should follow airport signs and confirm their connecting-gate and baggage instructions before leaving the secure area.
