Message from the head

Dr. Chiraporn Worawong - Director of BCNU

Dr. Chiraporn is a nursing instructor in department of Maternal Newborn Nursing and Midwifery and a nursing director of Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Udonthai, Faculty of Nursing, Praboromarajchanok Institute. She earned her PhD in nursing from University of WisconsinMadison, USA and MS in maternal and child nursing from Chiangmai University, Thailand. Her research interests are about maternal and child health, healthy and active aging, and transformative learning in nursing education. With increasing interest in the ability of health care professionals to work together in healthcare contexts, she has highlighted the importance of providing IPE learning opportunities and experiences for all students to achieve their learning outcomes. She values supportive policies, networks, and commitments for the IPE implementation and success through innovative and collaborative ways. Boromarajonani College of Nursing Udon Thani (BCNU), Udon Thani Province has been utilizing IPE approach at institutional level to equip students with professional and non-professional competencies to be ready to work in realized situation with health teams and to enhance health service delivery in 2018. Unique approach of IPE BCNU and its network do not only develop students’ competencies, but also create innovations to ease patients’ illness. The preparation of the IPE is an essential tool in achieving the goals of the four C’s of the 21st century skills for modern students to succeed in school and for starting their career. These 4 Cs are Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration and Communication. I hope this collaboration is a very meaningful step for educators, health practitioners and professions, researchers, and academics to exchange knowledge, innovations, trends, and valuable expertise. I very much hope that our IPE project will benefit you in your own area of professional specialization, and thus consequently lead to the improvement in the health of the population, patient outcomes, and the performance of the health care system and practices.

Adchara Khammathit, Ph.D., RN

Adchara Khammathit is a nursing instructor in the Department of Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, Boromarajonani College of Nursing Udonthani (BCNU). She earned her Ph.D. in Psychology and counselling from Queensland University of Technology Australia, in 2012. Her background is mental health and psychiatric nursing. She graduated Master of Mental Health Nursing from University of South Australia in 2008 and also earned her M.Sc in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing from Chiangmai University, Thailand in 2001. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI), Australia. JBI is a global organization promoting and supporting evidence-based decisions that improve health and health service delivery. Her research interests are mental health and young substance users, family support program for substance users, interprofessional education for health care team, systematic review, evidence based nursing and clinical nursing practice guideline. She joined the Interprofessional Education training course in 2019 at Gunma University, Japan. Regarding IPE project, she has been working with the Champion team (nursing lecturers from BCNU and engineering lecturers from Udon Thani Rajabhat University : UDRU) to design the nursing innovation course. Design Thinking was used to produce the nursing innovations based on the Transprofessional education concept. Enhancing the effective competency for nursing students to get ready to work with others is the focal point of our mission. The interdisciplinary teamwork is essential for health care system.

Kamonthip Tanglakmankhong, Ph.D., RN

Kamonthip Tanglakmankhong is a nursing instructor in the Department of Maternal Neonatal and Midwifery Nursing. She earned her Ph.D. in nursing from Oregon Health & Science University, USA, in 2010 and her M.S. in Nursing Administration from Chiangmai University, Thailand in 1996. She was also a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Michigan, USA in the project of non-communicable disease research in Thailand funded by the Fogarty International Center of National Institution of Health, USA during 2019-2020. Her research interests are cognitive training in the elderly, healthy aging, age-related cognitive changes, and non-pharmacologic intervention for enhancing cognitive, emotional, and everyday functioning. She has a nursing and midwifery license issued by Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council. She teaches undergraduate students about research and innovation in nursing, Gerontological Nursing Practice in Community, Maternal and Newborn Nursing, and Midwifery in Hospitals. She has also worked with UNFPA in Thailand, and Laos as a consultant on several projects focusing on promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights for young people especially vulnerable youth groups: supporting ending preventable maternal deaths through the South-South and Triangular Cooperation. She joined the 8th Gunma University Training on Interprofessional Education in 2021. She has her ongoing-research project aims to prepare nursing students to work together with other people as a team not only with the health professional team but also with other professions. She realized that quality of care occurs when health professionals work effectively in a team, communicate productively, and understand each other's roles.
